Position Description
As a Journeyman Welder – Skid Jig Leadhand, you will be responsible for performing high‑quality FCAW and GMAW welding while providing hands‑on leadership in a production environment. This role focuses on welding light‑gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless steel components used in skid and jig assemblies.

As a Journeyman Welder – Skid Jig Leadhand, you will be responsible for performing high‑quality FCAW and GMAW welding while providing hands‑on leadership in a production environment. This role focuses on welding light‑gauge steel, aluminum, and stainless steel components used in skid and jig assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform FCAW and GMAW welding to specification on light‑gauge materials
- Lead and support assigned welders on skid and jig assemblies
- Interpret drawings, weld symbols, and specifications accurately
- Ensure weld quality meets safety and company standards
- Assist with fit‑up, jig alignment, and workflow coordination
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Support production targets and continuous improvement initiatives
- Journeyman Welder Certification (Red Seal preferred or equivalent)
- Valid CWB certifications, including:
- CWB FCAW (Structural Steel)
- CWB GMAW (Steel)
- Aluminum welding certification (GMAW) – considered a strong asset
- Ability to pass company weld tests for steel, aluminum, and/or stainless steel
- Strong working knowledge of CSA W47.1 / W59 welding standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Leadership or lead hand experience in a fabrication or skid shop environment
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Open to overtime on weekdays and/or weekends, when required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- This position may involve tasks requiring the use of a respirator. In accordance with occupational health and safety standards, all employees must be clean-shaven where the respirator seals to the face to ensure proper fit and protection. Compliance with this requirement is mandatory for employment in this role.
