Project Manager | Large-Scale BESS & Grid Flexibility

We are currently partnered with a leading independent power producer building its project delivery team in Germany, with two major 4-hour battery duration BESS projects of 250 MW and 400 MW progressing into delivery / EPC phase. The company develop-build-own-operate and do everything throughout this lifecycle in house.


They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take day-to-day ownership of one of these projects, leading delivery through engineering, construction, commissioning and operational handover.


The Role

Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead a multidisciplinary team across engineering, construction, commissioning, grid, commercial and procurement activities to ensure the project is delivered safely on programme and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, construction, grid, commercial and procurement.
  • Manage programme, budget, progress and project performance against approved delivery plans.
  • Own project risk, opportunity and change management, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation.
  • Coordinate key technical and commercial interfaces across contractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Oversee contractual and commercial activities, including subcontracts, variations, claims and contractual risk.
  • Maintain high standards of HSE, project governance and reporting throughout delivery.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong track record delivering large-scale energy, engineering or infrastructure projects
  • End-to-end experience across engineering, construction and commissioning
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, risk and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness
  • BESS, grid, HV/HVDC, substation or electrical infrastructure experience is advantageous, although other complex high-CAPEX project backgrounds will be considered
  • Professional proficiency in German and English
  • Ability to work regularly from the Berlin office, with occasional travel to project sites across Germany.


This is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of one of Germany's major upcoming battery storage projects while joining a business at an early stage of its German expansion.


You'll work closely with senior decision-makers, help establish the German delivery platform and gain exposure to a significant long-term pipeline of energy infrastructure projects.
