Company Description: Mercom India is a subsidiary of U.S.-based Mercom Capital Group, a globally recognized clean energy communications and consulting firm specializing in renewable energy. The company is known for its leadership and influence in shaping India’s rapidly growing clean energy markets. Based in Bangalore, Mercom India provides research, news, and communications services tailored to organizations in India's clean energy sector. Team members work at the intersection of media, market intelligence, and sustainability, contributing to the transition toward cleaner energy solutions.

Role Description: Mercom India is looking for a proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented Executive Associate to work closely with the Managing Director on the company’s daily business priorities. This hands-on role focuses on coordinating assignments across departments, supporting commercial and operational activities, preparing executive communications, and ensuring management directives and pending tasks are completed.

The Executive Associate will actively follow up with employees and department heads, check progress against deadlines, resolve routine delays, and verify that deliverables are complete and accurate.

Key Responsibilities

• Executive priorities: Organize and prioritize the Managing Director’s daily assignments, meetings, deadlines, pending decisions, and follow-ups.

• Cross-department coordination: Work with Sales, Events, Research, News, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to ensure management directives are understood and delivered on time.

• Ownership of pending assignments: Maintain a live tracker of tasks assigned by the Managing Director across teams, with clear owners, deadlines, next steps, and completion status. Proactively follow up until each assignment is finished.

• Ensure task completion: Check that deliverables have actually been submitted, meet the original requirements, and are accurate and complete. If work is incomplete or needs corrections, coordinate directly with the responsible person and follow through until it's resolved.

• Resolve delays and hold teams accountable: Identify overdue tasks and bottlenecks early, obtain revised commitments, and help remove routine obstacles. Escalate unresolved or material issues to the Managing Director with a concise summary and recommended action.

• Reduce management follow-ups: Ensure the Managing Director does not have to repeatedly remind employees, chase responses, or check whether routine assignments have been completed.

• Executive communication: Draft professional emails, instructions, meeting briefs, management updates, presentations, and other correspondence for review or release as authorized.

• Commercial support: Coordinate client proposals, sponsorship agreements, customer follow-ups, renewals, and sales materials; cross-check pro forma invoices and commercial information against approved records.

• Meeting preparation: Research companies and attendees; compile CRM history, prior discussions, proposals, outstanding issues, and clear meeting objectives; record decisions and follow up on action items.

• Management reporting: Prepare concise daily and weekly updates highlighting completed tasks, overdue deliverables, risks, and decisions requiring the Managing Director’s attention.

• Process improvement: Identify recurring delays, gaps in communication, and inefficient procedures; recommend and implement practical improvements with management approval.

• Research and special projects: Conduct focused market, competitor, and business research; prepare structured findings and take ownership of assigned cross-functional projects.

• Confidentiality and judgment: Handle sensitive financial, personnel, customer, and business information with discretion; escalate matters involving material financial, legal, or reputational risk.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Management, Engineering, or a related field; 0–2 years of relevant experience, including strong internships, may be considered.

• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to draft clear, professional business correspondence and concise management briefs.

• Strong organization, time management, follow-up discipline, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.

• Confidence and tact in coordinating with senior employees and department heads, while maintaining professional relationships.

• Good judgment, initiative, problem-solving ability, and willingness to take responsibility for results rather than only report status.

• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, email, and collaboration tools; comfort using CRM systems and AI-assisted productivity tools with proper fact-checking.

What Success Looks Like

• The Managing Director can focus on more important tasks and spend less time chasing updates, correcting avoidable errors, and resolving routine coordination issues.

• Pending management assignments are proactively followed up and verified as completed accurately and on time, without repeated reminders from the Managing Director.

• Meeting briefs, commercial documents, and management communications are accurate, concise, and prepared on time.

• Department heads remain accountable for delivering their work; the Executive Associate ensures follow-through, identifies unresolved issues early, and escalates only when a decision or intervention is necessary.

What We Offer

Direct exposure to the Managing Director and CEO, hands-on experience across Mercom’s business functions, meaningful responsibility from the outset, and opportunities for professional development.
