About the role

This position is with Strategic Perspectives, a pan-European think tank created to promote an effective transition to climate neutrality as the solution to a multitude of interconnected crises facing the EU. Strategic Perspectives is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation.

We're looking for an innovative EU Institutional Affairs Lead with a unique combination of skills who is a team player with good institutional or public affairs experience.

Following the leadership from the Executive Director and Director, the EU Institutional Affairs Lead will coordinate Strategic Perspectives' outreach to the EU institutions in Brussels on climate, energy and industrial policies. This position will report to the Executive Director of Strategic Perspectives.

We are looking for someone with a sound understanding of EU decision-making on climate and energy policies. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a strong affinity for networking, monitoring EU policy developments, who is keen to work in a growing European team and a mission-driven organisation.

How you’ll contribute

  • Leading the expertise and the work on the future architecture to implement the 90% greenhouse gas emissions target for 2040.
  • Leading outreach activities to relevant EU officials on climate, energy and industry in coordination with the Strategic Perspectives’ analysts. This includes representing Strategic Perspectives’ positions in official meetings and events from the European Commission, discussions with Permanent Representations from various Member States, and in the European Parliament.
  • Contributing to the organisation of high-level convenings and meetings in Brussels.
  • Monitoring developments, policy decisions and emerging narratives in the European debate, and thus acting as a source of information and updates for the team and an international communications network we work closely with.
  • Working closely with the Executive Director and Director in establishing partnerships and coalitions with various stakeholders, including businesses, Trade Unions, and civil society organisations.
  • Writing well-sourced, high-level documents, for instance, briefings, reports, policy recommendations, blogs, and other media interventions.
  • Undertaking additional activities as reasonably aligned with the objectives and scope of the role.


Our Ideal Candidate Has

  • Relevant work experience of at least 5 years in one of the following areas: work in or around EU institution related to climate, energy or industrial policies,
  • Expert-level knowledge and proven track record in the EU policy-making and positions of different countries and actors, especially on the Clean Industrial Deal and recent policy developments,
  • Strong networking skills and ability to build alliances with a diverse set of actors,
  • Ability to monitor a changing political landscape, identifying the most crucial intervention points that add value to the overall discourse,
  • Outstanding English language skills, with a track record of producing engaging communications materials; proficiency in French and German is a strong asset,
  • Experience in representing an organisation in meetings, public events and media,
  • Motivated and proactive team player with a passion for excellence,
  • Strong time and priority management, a can-do mentality and the ability to work on different topics at the same time,
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers,
  • A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.
