We are proud and excited to offer internships for 2026 across several of our different office locations and are currently seeking a powerED Operations Intern to join our team in Tampa, FL for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you would support our powerED team by attending school engagements and working with local students and teachers on why sustainability in the built environment is so important.

The hourly rate for this role is $24/hr.

What we look for in our powerED Operations interns:
- Comfortable presenting to and engaging with K–12 students in both classroom and group settings.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
- Experience with Canva is preferred. Working knowledge of SharePoint is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple inboxes, calendars, and competing priorities.
- Excellent time management, multitasking, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Currently enrolled as a college junior, senior, or graduate student.
- Pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- Available to work part-time (15–20 hours per week) during the school year, from August through June.
- Ability to travel to schools and job sites throughout the service area.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Available from August 15 through June 1.
What Our powerED Operations Interns Are Responsible For:
- Project & Program Support
- Assist the powerED team with community events, school visits, site engagements, and sustainability initiatives throughout the district.
- Support environmental education efforts by engaging with K–12 students, educators, and school staff.
- Develop and create sustainability-focused resources, activities, and content for Green Team Leads and students.
- Serve as an ambassador for McKinstry's sustainability mission by promoting environmental stewardship and the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
- Deliver presentations and facilitate activities for students and school communities.
- Monitor and respond to group email inboxes in a professional, timely, and customer-focused manner.
- Learn district-wide HVAC scheduling processes and provide administrative and operational support as needed.
- Assist with program tracking, reporting, data collection, and other operational tasks that support powerED initiatives.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for sustainability, environmental education, and creating positive change within school communities.
