The Opportunity with McKinstry
We’re hiring a Packaging & Crating Technician to support outbound logistics and manufacturing operations onsite at McKinstry in Spokane. This is a contract role where you’ll play a key part in preparing, packaging, and protecting materials for shipment. The estimated duration is 6–12 months, with potential for extension.

We’re hiring a Packaging & Crating Technician to support outbound logistics and manufacturing operations onsite at McKinstry in Spokane. This is a contract role where you’ll play a key part in preparing, packaging, and protecting materials for shipment. The estimated duration is 6–12 months, with potential for extension.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Design and build custom crates, pallets, and packaging solutions for shipped materials
- Prepare products for shipment using proper cushioning, dunnage, and moisture barriers
- Operate woodworking tools and packaging equipment
- Ensure materials are packaged securely to prevent damage during transit
- Follow ISPM-15 and MIL-STD packaging standards for applicable shipments
- Read and interpret basic drawings or specifications to support packaging needs
- Inspect finished packaging to ensure quality and compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Support overall outbound logistics and shipping operations
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of experience in packaging, crating, woodworking, or similar hands-on work
- Ability to work with tools and build custom solutions
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Vocational training or experience in woodworking or carpentry
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Familiarity with packaging standards (ISPM-15, MIL-STD)
- Forklift certification or experience
- OSHA 10 certification
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings
- Fully onsite role in Spokane
- Active work environment (building, lifting, moving materials)
- Opportunity to work with tools and create custom packaging solutions
- Team-oriented environment with a strong focus on quality and safety
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs as needed
