The Opportunity with McKinstry
We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Process Piping Estimator to join our Estimating team in Seattle. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale, complex projects not only in the pacific northwest but across the entire country. We specialize in a variety of industries including commercial, data centers, life sciences, technology, industrial, and pharmaceutical.
You’ll be part of a highly skilled team that values precision, collaboration, and technical expertise. Our projects range from $50K to $100M+, and we need someone who can navigate the details, think critically, and contribute to delivering accurate and competitive estimates.

The pay range for this position is $75,870- $128,900 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.

We’re looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Process Piping Estimator to join our Estimating team in Seattle. We specialize in a variety of industries including commercial, data centers, life sciences, technology, industrial, and pharmaceutical.
You’ll be part of a highly skilled team that values precision, collaboration, and technical expertise. Our projects range from $50K to $100M+, and we need someone who can navigate the details, think critically, and contribute to delivering accurate and competitive estimates.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Estimating process piping systems including instrument air, compressed air, liquid and gaseous argon, and nitrogen systems.
- Coordinating with sales, project teams, and engineers to ensure alignment.
- Engaging with vendors and subcontractors to gather pricing.
- Performing on-screen quantity takeoffs as necessary.
- Preparing detailed scope letters, including inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
- Managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings and process flow diagrams.
- 5+ Years experience with estimating, takeoff, budgeting, and cost control.
- Familiarity with estimating software (Autobid Trimble, Quotesoft, Fast Duct/Pipe, MEP EST, etc.).
- Knowledge of SMACNA Labor Manual and how it applies to estimating.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, Building Connected, and Procore.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.
- Bonus experience with Revit, AutoCAD, structural steel estimating, or industrial projects.
- Work on complex, high-impact projects that challenge and develop your skills.
