Specialist - Emission Reduction and Disclosures
Who You'll Work With
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we’ll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:
You will gather, analyze, and integrate information from internal and external stakeholders (including structured sustainability disclosures, supplier survey responses, and unstructured, large datasets such as travel data, finance data, and other emissions data) to inform priorities and track progress.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders to assess and implement decarbonization initiatives. You will also manage the delivery of audit-ready external disclosures and reports. You will conduct peer benchmarking and review latest industry standards, synthesizing findings and recommendations to inform our overall sustainability strategy and ensure it is up to date.
You will be part of McKinsey’s internal environmental sustainability (ES) team working to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 for the firm’s own operations. The team’s strategy focuses on cutting emissions, compensating for remaining emissions, and catalyzing broader climate action. Having successfully overachieved McKinsey’s 2025 emission reduction targets, the team is now working towards the firm’s 2030 interim targets.
You will support your manager and broader ES team across McKinsey’s emission reduction efforts and external environmental sustainability disclosures. Emission reduction efforts span engaging with colleagues to foster behavior change and encourage adoption of sustainable initiatives, as well as environmentally sustainable procurement and supply chain decarbonization. The majority of McKinsey’s emissions are travel related and even more emissions are tied to our supply chain. In parallel, the disclosure landscape keeps evolving and accurate, consistent reporting is critical to our firm’s reputation. Therefore, this role is critical to the success of McKinsey’s net-zero journey.
You will work closely with the ES Director and broader ES team, and collaborate with stakeholders across the firm, including Category Leads (colleagues leading supplier relationships and strategy) in areas such as air travel, hotel, ground transportation, purchased goods & services.
In this role, you will be working across three main areas, namely supplier engagement, colleague engagement, and reporting and disclosures. For supplier engagement, you will be supporting our supplier engagement strategy including, but not limited to, conducting data analyses, preparing for Quarterly Business Reviews with Category Leads and key suppliers, and implementing McKinsey’s CDP Supply Chain engagement. Initiatives that you will support include expansion and upkeep of Green Hotel certifications, incorporating nudges in travel booking platforms, and running electric vehicle campaigns.
For colleague engagement, you will be responsible for supporting engagement efforts with colleagues such as fleet managers and staffing teams, to encourage emission reducing behaviors and adoption of sustainable initiatives. This will include conducting data analyses and extracting recommendations. In particular, you will lead the engagement with Green Teams, colleagues around the world voluntarily working on sustainability efforts in their offices. For reporting and disclosures, you will support the delivery of all environmental sustainability reporting requirements by gathering inputs, project managing timelines, and working closely with stakeholders for a timely, coordinated delivery. You will be the primary owner of drafting initial disclosure content, ensuring it is clear, accurate, and high-quality, and applying strong quality control to deliver consistent and audit-ready outputs.
Your work will help achieve McKinsey’s public near- and long-term emissions reduction targets and make a positive difference for colleagues, suppliers, and the planet. This work has high senior leadership visibility due to its strategic importance and public and evolving nature.
