Job Summary
The Decarbonization & Sustainability Specialist plays a key role in advancing Mazzetti’s climate action, decarbonization, and sustainability work. This role blends technical expertise, project leadership, and client engagement to deliver high-quality climate solutions. You will lead greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, support energy and decarbonization analysis, serve as a LEED Project Administrator, contribute to green building certifications, and help clients navigate a range of climate, energy, and reporting frameworks.

Work Location
This role is fully remote within the United States. Candidates in Hawaii or Alaska may need additional time-zone flexibility, as most clients and project teams are based in the continental U.S.

Your Tasks Will Involve
Climate Action Planning & GHG Inventory
- Lead GHG inventories and assessments aligned with recognized standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064).
- Analyze emissions data, develop baselines and forecasts, and identify decarbonization opportunities.
- Support energy modeling, energy performance analysis, or efficiency assessments as part of broader climate strategies.
- Communicate technical findings through clear visuals, reports, and client presentations.
- Serve as LEED Project Administrator and support certification efforts across LEED, WELL, and other rating systems.
- Manage MEP-related LEED documentation and participate in integrative design workshops.
- Support embodied carbon assessments using LCA tools such as One Click LCA.
- Develop decarbonization and energy roadmaps for clients.
- Evaluate the technical and financial feasibility of emissions-reduction strategies, technologies, and design approaches.
- Stay current on emerging regulations, technologies, and trends shaping decarbonization and sustainability.
- Lead or support project management tasks, including scope, schedule, and deliverables.
- Produce high-quality reports, proposals, and client-facing materials.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and help oversee interns or early-career contributors.
- Conduct research on emerging climate technologies, policies, and methodologies.
- Synthesize findings into actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
- Contribute to practice-wide knowledge resources and innovation.
Requirements
Expertise And Abilities You Will Contribute
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Approximately 3-6 years of experience in GHG accounting, carbon management, energy management, green building certification, or sustainability consulting.
- Strong understanding of GHG accounting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and sustainability reporting mechanisms (e.g., CDP, TCFD, SBTi).
- Experience with energy analysis tools, carbon accounting software, or green building certification platforms.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) credential.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines.
- Demonstrated project management capability and experience delivering projects from initiation to closeout.
- Experience working with healthcare facilities or other complex building types.
- Familiarity with life-cycle assessment tools (LCA), financial modeling, or cost-benefit analysis.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems, electrification strategies, and low-carbon technologies.
- Experience presenting to client, stakeholder, or leadership groups.
- Ability to tell a compelling technical or business story through data, visuals, and narrative structure.
- Bring a collaborative, team-first approach and build trust through transparency and follow-through.
