Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

This role is required to lead, manage and guide efforts relating to Sustainability & CSR Controls, so that the Company’s disclosures can be independently substantiated and withstand assurance and regulatory scrutiny, supporting the Group’s readiness for mandatory reasonable assurance as it becomes compulsory for Group 1 issuers. The role designs and owns the Control Framework, evidence standards and verification methodology applied a network of contributing functions company wide and secures adherence to them without line authority over those functions.

This is a senior technical role holding recurring operational accountability for sustainability disclosure assurance cycle. This role does not originate or interpret the Company’s position.

  • Sustainability & CSR disclosure control environment. Design and own the company wide Sustainability & CSR Control environment. Proactively design and embed a robust internal Controls Framework — ahead of the mandatory reasonable assurance regime — aligned to ISSA 5000, IFRS S1/S2 (ISSB), SASB, and other relevant global standards. This safeguards the Company’s regulatory compliance, investor confidence, audit readiness and claims integrity to protect corporate reputation.

This work supports accurate and credible external disclosures, reduces reporting and reputational risk, and strengthens confidence among regulators, investors and other stakeholders.
  • Assurance readiness and the external assurance interface. Prepare audit-ready evidence packs, conduct proactive readiness assessments and coordinate remediation across contributing functions for external assurance readiness. Act as the main technical point of contact for the external assurance provider on scope, sampling, evidence and findings, supporting the timely resolution of gaps and issues, aligned to ISSA 5000, IFRS S1/S2 (ISSB), SASB, and other relevant global standards. This safeguards the Company’s regulatory compliance, investor confidence, audit readiness and claims integrity to protect corporate reputation.
  • Corporate responsibility impact measurement and verification. Design the measurement methodology and verification framework for corporate responsibility impact metrics consistent with recognisable frameworks such as the UN SDGs or SROI, and guiding the CSR team in impact reporting. Ensure alignment of company’s CSR projects (e.g. Menuju Gemilang programme, eKelas Usahawan, GEN AI) impact reporting to align with recognised frameworks and MCMC’s social framework.
  • Own and control the budget direction and technical supervision. Direct the budget for Sustainability & CSR Controls, verification and assurance activity so that resources are applied to the areas of highest disclosure risk and provide technical supervision to one direct report. Delivered by building the annual budget case for control and assurance activity, tracking commitments and variance, allocating and reviewing technical work, and coaching on control and evidence standards.

  • Own the preparation and submission of responses to external sustainability ratings and indices, enterprise customer ESG questionnaires and supplier assessments, and prepare evidenced responses to investor sustainability enquiries, so that externally stated positions are accurate, substantiated and consistent across every channel.
