About Mass Audubon
Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change. With the help of our 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries.
About This Position
Mass Audubon's Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary is hiring two Field Assistants who will contribute to wildlife conservation projects in Dartmouth, MA and nearby locations for the summer of 2023. The Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary encompasses a barrier beach, a coastal salt pond, grasslands, shrub lands, and forested uplands at a rural location in southeastern Massachusetts.
This position will offer hands-on experience and career development opportunities. The Field Assistants will gain experience and skills in endangered species management, nesting bird ecology, field research, data management, and environmental education. They will assist Mass Audubon staff and volunteers in the monitoring and management of locally breeding bird and turtle species.
The Field Assistant Program seeks to broaden participation in the environmental conservation field and attract members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in this career path. The program is particularly interested in increasing the number of women, underrepresented minorities, and persons facing barriers to pursuing an environmental career. We strongly encourage students who are members of these groups to apply.
