Climate Change & Social Impact Specialist within top tier law firm - (Sydney CBD)
- In simple terms, this role helps lead the firm's GHG emissions measurement initiatives and to support its social impact initiatives.
- Optimise the firm's emissions tracking, reduction and education initiatives and elevate its community and volunteering programs, making sure everything is organised, well‑run and properly measured.
- This role will suit a 'people person' who is analytical, purpose‑driven and organised, with an interest in the environment and community, and who enjoys supporting meaningful programs behind the scenes.

Role Detail
Joining our Responsible Business team, this role supports the Climate Change & Environment Lead and Social Impact Manager in implementing the firm's climate change and environment program by leading emissions calculations, improving data accuracy and coordinating emissions reduction plans. This role is also responsible for encouraging engagement in the Community pillar by providing integral operational support to the firm's Grants & Giving and Volunteering activities and assisting with thorough impact evaluation.
Based in the Sydney CBD office, with a balanced approach to work from home, this role will help the firm measure and reduce its environmental impact, especially:
- Leading annual greenhouse gas emissions calculations
- Improving the quality of environmental data and our firm's capability on climate
- Coordinate emissions reduction initiatives
It will also help the firm give back to the community by:
- Ensuring accurate and timely workplace giving processes, and support fundraising and volunteering programs
- Making sure systems, records and reporting are accurate and up to date
- Contributing to thoughtful stakeholder engagement and impact measurement
About You
As an early-mid career professional, wanting to build on your experience in this space while making a real contribution, your genuine interest in sustainability, climate change and social impact will be valued and your comfort in building relationships, working with data, systems and spreadsheets, will set you up for success. With an excellence without arrogance ethos, you will enjoy doing a mix of project work and hands-on admin - You will value teamwork, community involvement and doing work that has a positive impact.
You will also bring:
- Degree in Science/Environmental Management/Sustainability (completed or currently studying) or demonstrated interest in/knowledge of sustainability/climate change
- Project management and time management skills - Known to be organised, reliable and strong on follow‑through
- Thorough and well-documented approach to data handling, improvement and management
- Strong Microsoft skills, particularly with Excel and MS Teams (essential), Salesforce, SharePoint
- Enjoyment improving processes and finding smarter ways of working, including using technology
- Ability to build relationships with the confidence to liaise with all levels of the firm and external contacts
- Comfortable taking initiative and working independently
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written - A clear communicator who can explain information in a simple, practical way - Making the complex simple.
- Enthusiasm to work effectively with community and project partners and grow a network of aligned collaborators in the community sector
- Flexibility to work on occasional community events or activities outside normal business hours is required
