Head of Investment / Commercial Director - Energy Transition (Private Equity-Backed)
Our client is a private-equity backed renewable energy platform in a pivotal growth phase. We are recruiting a Head of Investment / Commercial Director to join its senior leadership team. You will play an integral role in how the business originates, structures and finances its pipeline.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will shape the platform's investment and commercial strategy and take assets through to financial close.
What you'll do
- Lead project financing across the portfolio: structure debt packages, run lender processes and syndications, and take assets through to financial close
- Build and manage relationships with banks, institutional lenders and capital providers
- Develop the platform's capital structure and funding strategy, including project-level debt, HoldCo financing and equity partnering
- Originate and execute M&A and development acquisitions, from initial assessment through investment committee
- Lead commercial strategy, including PPA and offtake procurement and negotiation
- Oversee financial modelling, valuation and investment papers for board and IC
- Work alongside development, technical and legal teams to keep projects bankable
- Help build the investment and commercial function as the platform scales
What you'll bring
- 10 to 15 years' experience in infrastructure, energy or renewables investment, project finance or development
- A track record of taking projects to financial close, with direct exposure to debt structuring and lender negotiations
- Experience across the project lifecycle: origination, development, acquisition, financing and offtake
- Strong financial modelling and commercial judgement, with experience taking transactions through investment committee
- Familiarity with PPAs, offtake and the regulatory environment for energy assets
- Credibility with lenders, co-investors and counterparties
- An entrepreneurial mindset and the drive to build, not just manage
