Role

The Mechanical Designer will create geometric models at system, subsystem, and component level for specialty equipment used in a novel “chemical plant on wheels.” This position is focused on designing and developing automotive-based parts, systems, and assemblies, which are built and manufactured in North Carolina. You will be a key member of the rapidly growing M2X team during a very exciting time in our company’s history, as we continue development and begin manufacturing and deployment of our commercial gas-to-methanol and gas-to-product platform. This rapid development cycle will allow the successful Mechanical Designer to work on many exciting projects and develop innovative solutions to any challenges encountered. Expectations are that this role will expand to design future system architectures for our commercial units.


The Mechanical Designer must work effectively as part of a team and represent M2X Energy well with partners and customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional technical competence and proficiency in design fundamentals and application. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a passion for developing new technologies to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate's Degree related to Mechanical Design, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency with current 3D modeling platforms (e.g., Autodesk)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the engine and automotive industry


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3.5 GPA or above
  • 8+ years of experience with direct experience in the Automotive industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience with Autodesk design software (Inventor and Vault)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and mechanical design practices to projects and conceptual designs through to detailed designs
  • Knowledge of codes, standards, criteria, and design execution pertinent to various aspects of design
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Highly motivated with strong teaming and communication skills
  • Ability to enthusiastically work on novel, complex engineering projects with minimal oversight.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technologies and tackle new challenges.
