Project Manager - New Construction Newport News We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee new construction mechanical projects from award through final client acceptance. This role carries full profit/loss responsibility and requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget. Project Oversight: Manage all phases of mechanical construction projects including contract administration, scheduling, budgeting, supervision, and quality control. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and general contractors post-award. Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate with contractors, inspectors, designers, and internal teams to ensure timely installation of plumbing, HVAC systems, ductwork, insulation, and controls. Material Management: Coordinate with prefabrication and procurement teams to ensure efficient material flow and timely delivery. Monitor labor, subcontractor, and material costs; Change Management: Estimate and manage change orders, ensuring proper documentation and timely approvals. Develop and lead commissioning plans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project timelines. Team Leadership: Conduct regular meetings with foremen and subcontractors to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance. Project Closeout: 5-10 years of experience in mechanical contracting project management, ideally with projects ranging from $8M-$12M. ~ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred. ~ Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. ~ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Project, Excel, Word); experience with Timberline or similar business software. ~ Demonstrated success in managing teams and subcontractors to meet performance objectives. Personal Attributes Skilled in conflict resolution and relationship building. Values-driven with a focus on people, community, and integrity. Approximately 80% of time will be spent managing active projects; 20% on estimating, reporting, training, and meetings. Must maintain a working calendar, daily activity log, and written goals for each project.
