General Manager - Renewable Energy Development And Transmission (Confidential Search)
Our client is a growing renewable energy developer with a significant pipeline of utility-scale generation and transmission infrastructure projects across Australia. As the business enters its next phase of growth, they are seeking a commercially focused General Manager to lead project development, grid connection strategy, stakeholder engagement, and project execution activities.
This is a rare opportunity to join a business where you will have direct influence over project origination, development strategy, investment decisions, and the delivery of nationally significant energy infrastructure.
Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing project development activities from greenfield origination through to financial close and delivery. The role will provide leadership across development, transmission and network engagement, commercial negotiations, land access, approvals, and stakeholder management.
You will play a key role in shaping renewable energy and energy storage projects while working closely with network businesses, AEMO, regulators, EPC partners, investors, and major customers.
- Lead development and execution of utility-scale renewable energy and storage projects.
- Drive transmission, grid connection, and network engagement strategies.
- Manage negotiations relating to land access, easements, connection agreements, and key commercial arrangements.
- Oversee environmental approvals, planning processes, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with transmission utilities, government agencies, investors, and strategic partners.
- Support investment decisions, project acquisitions, and portfolio growth initiatives.
- Build and lead high-performing multidisciplinary teams across development, commercial, engineering, and delivery functions.
- Contribute to corporate strategy and business expansion opportunities.
- Extensive experience within renewable energy, electricity infrastructure, transmission, utilities, or energy development.
- Strong understanding of project development, grid connection, transmission networks, and the Australian energy market.
- Experience leading large-scale infrastructure or energy projects from development through execution.
- Proven commercial leadership with exposure to investment, project finance, joint ventures, or asset development.
- Strong stakeholder management skills across network service providers, government agencies, landowners, and investors.
- Executive leadership experience with the ability to drive growth and build capability within a scaling business.
