Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Estimator to prepare detailed cost proposals for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring accurate and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze project documents to determine scope and estimate requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop cost estimates for various disciplines.
- Maintain organized records of estimate data, including supplier quotes and historical cost information.
- Evaluate design alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Lead estimating efforts for assigned bids, coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather relevant project information.
- Support post-award activities such as change orders, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
- Maintain and update databases for subcontractors, suppliers, and project leads.
- Participate in outreach events to identify new subcontractors and promote bid opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with prequalification requirements for public agencies.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or 4-7 years of relevant experience in estimating, cost control, or construction engineering.
- Proven ability to estimate concrete, earthwork, and structural components.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable engaging with subcontractors and vendors to clarify scopes and pricing.
