Research And Development Scientist
LuxWall is focused on the product development, scaling, and commercializing of innovative Transparent Insulation products and solutions for the built environment. LuxWall's vacuum insulated technology, EnthermalTM, delivers a step change in energy performance, eliminating convective heat transfer and drastically reducing conductive and radiant heat gain and loss within buildings.
The result is up to 45% in energy savings, while improving comfort and noise reduction. LuxWall has the potential to redefine building performance globally and forever change the way buildings are designed and constructed.
If you are a scientist driven by innovation, complex material systems, and impactful sustainability solutions, this is your opportunity to shape the future of how buildings are designed and engineered.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Scientist with deep experience in materials chemistry, rheology, and experimental research. You will lead scientific investigations, develop and optimize organic–inorganic formulations, and play a central role in advancing LuxWall's core technology from concept to scaled production.
This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands‐on experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and translating scientific discoveries into commercially viable products.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead research projects to advance the understanding and performance of organic–inorganic material systems, supporting LuxWall's product development and manufacturing efforts.
- Characterize and optimize rheological properties through formulation development, advanced testing, data interpretation, and iterative refinement.
- Develop formulations that achieve targeted flow, deformation, stability, and structural characteristics. Evaluate component contributions to final‐state performance.
- Apply rheology and materials science principles to ensure product consistency, reliability, and manufacturability. Collaborate cross‐functionally to refine specifications and improve processing methods.
- Define material, process, and equipment requirements; partner with production teams to establish best practices in handling, mixing, and application.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments across lab‐scale, pilot‐line, and full‐scale manufacturing environments.
- Document research insights, support intellectual property generation, and contribute to internal technical reporting.
- Champion safety and adhere to all corporate policies and laboratory standards.
What You Bring
- BS/MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 5+ years of R&D experience; OR PhD with 2+ years of experience.
- Hands‐on experience developing chemical formulations for electronics, coatings, adhesives, or related advanced materials.
- Strong command of statistical analysis, including DOE, SPC, and multivariate methods.
- Working knowledge of thixotropic and viscoelastic material behavior and methods for adjusting these properties.
- Proven success collaborating with cross‐functional R&D, scaling, and manufacturing teams from ideation to launch.
- Excellent scientific communication skills and experience preparing technical or scientific reports. [
- Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple research priorities.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role involves hands‐on work in a manufacturing and laboratory setting, including bending, crouching, manual dexterity, repetitive motions, and exposure to chemicals, dust, machinery, temperature variation, and noise. PPE is required.
Why Join LuxWall
