Market Analyst Intern: Energy Storage Market & Strategy

Location

CUHK / InnoCentre (Kowloon Tong) / Shenzhen, depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Energy Storage Market Research
  • Conduct market research on renewable energy and energy storage markets in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Australia and other priority regions.
  • Track industry trends in long-duration energy storage, flow batteries, lithium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, hydrogen, compressed air energy storage, gravity storage and other emerging technologies.
  • Research energy storage policies, electricity tariffs, peak-valley price spreads, capacity mechanisms, subsidies, grid-connection requirements and fire safety regulations.
  • Prepare market briefs, industry benchmarks and country/region market entry analyses. Support the development of databases covering potential customers, strategic partners, government bodies, industrial funds, energy groups, EPC companies and system integrators.
  • Project Economics and Business Model Analysis
  • Support financial modelling for energy storage projects, including CAPEX, OPEX, LCOS, IRR, payback period and sensitivity analysis.
  • Analyze customer-level economics across application scenarios, including data centers, EV charging stations, industrial parks, green power supply for chemical and energy-intensive industries, renewable integration, microgrids, ports and underground transit spaces.
  • Compare sulfur-based flow batteries with lithium-ion batteries, vanadium flow batteries, diesel generators, lead-acid batteries and other competing solutions.
  • Support project screening and commercial decision-making through unit economics and scenario analysis.
  • Business Plan and Fundraising Materials
  • Assist in preparing and updating investor decks, business plans, one-page teasers and project introduction materials.
  • Support the development of content related to market size, competitive landscape, business model, revenue forecast, customer pipeline and project pipeline.
  • Translate market research and financial analysis into clear charts, slides and executive-level presentation materials.
  • Help maintain the company’s internal market intelligence and investor materials database.
  • Customer Proposals and Marketing Materials
  • Support the preparation of presentation materials for customers, government agencies, industrial parks, state-owned enterprises, energy groups, investors and international partners.
  • Draft content on customer pain points, technology advantages, project economics, business models and implementation pathways.
  • Assist in preparing materials for roadshows, exhibitions, forums, project applications and strategic partnership discussions.
  • Content Marketing and Brand Communications
  • Support the operation of the company’s WeChat Official Account, website and LinkedIn account.
  • Draft and edit company news, project updates, technology explainers, industry insights, event recaps and team updates.
  • Help develop content calendars and improve Luquos Energy’s visibility in energy storage, long-duration storage and climate-tech communities.
  • Monitor industry news and competitor updates, and propose relevant content topics for external communication.


Requirements

  • Undergraduate senior, Master’s student or MBA candidate preferred. Profession in finance, economics, business, management, business analytics. Knowledge in energy, environmental studies, electric engineering, materials science, chemistry or power systems are welcomed.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy, energy storage, climate tech or hard-tech startups.
  • Strong research, analytical thinking and structured communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel; ability to conduct basic financial modelling, sensitivity analysis and data analysis.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and ability to convert complex information into clear, professional presentation materials.
  • Strong Chinese writing skills for articles, marketing materials and project summaries.
  • Strong English reading and writing skills; ability to research international markets and support English content for LinkedIn and investor/customer materials.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, fast learner and comfortable working in a startup environment.
  • Prior internship experience in consulting, investment banking, private equity/venture capital, energy companies, climate-tech startups, market research, technology media or strategy teams is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with energy storage, solar, wind, power markets, data centers, industrial parks, carbon markets or green finance.
  • Experience in project economics, IRR/NPV/LCOS modelling or energy project financial analysis.
  • Experience preparing business plans, investor decks, market research reports or commercial proposals.
  • Experience operating WeChat Official Accounts, LinkedIn pages, websites or other content channels.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Figma, Power BI, Notion, Airtable or other content/data management tools.
  • Strong English communication skills for international customer, investor or partner-facing materials.
