As a Sr. Technical Team Leader on the Motor Gearbox Engineering design team, you will have design ownership of next generation EV mechanical propulsion systems and components for Lucid vehicles, motorsports programs and other applications. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with talented and passionate colleagues to design, prototype, test and launch these exciting products into production. The Role:
- Own the design and development of EV mechanical propulsion systems, subsystems, and components, including, gears, differentials, bearings, shafts, clutches, and similar components, from concept phase all the way through production launch
- Analytically weigh various design options and success criteria to arrive at the highest value design for the application
- Partner with colleagues in test, manufacturing, quality, software, supply chain, vehicle attributes, and other teams to solve challenges and achieve breakthroughs that will take Lucid’s powertrain technologies to the next level.
- Work with suppliers and prototype shops to evaluate new ideas and optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability
- Evaluate supplier capabilities to determine ideal business partners for Lucid
- As part of a growing global team, you may travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Lead cross functional teams to resolve complex business' challenges
Qualifications:
- Outstanding technical problem-solving abilities based in a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and core principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of design for relevant manufacturing processes
- Strong CAD skills, preferably with CATIA V6/3DX
- Strong analytical capabilities for transmission modeling in systems like Ansys, Romax, MASTA
- Proficiency with tolerance analysis and GD&T.
- Proven experience bringing products to market, preferably in high volume
- Proactive mindset, strong work ethic, and curious nature.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced rapidly changing environment.
- Collaborative team player personality.
Preferred:
- Automotive powertrain experience-especially transmission and EV powertrain systems
- Hands on mechanical fabrication, prototyping and/or test experience
- Experience with bevel gear design and analysis
- Experience with DMFEA, 8D, DOE, Six Sigma, or other structured problem-solving methodologies
Education:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience (Or Master’s Degree + 5 year’s experience).
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions ,including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
- California (Bay Area) - $138,000-$198,000/yr
