Metrology Sr Technician

We are currently seeking a Sr Metrology Technician to help support our metrology lab. The role is primarily in support of the Applicants should have good math and computer skills, a positive attitude, good attention to detail, and comfortable moving and being active in tight spaces. Preferred candidates will have experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment, with some experience using 3D measurement tools.


THE ROLE:

  • Responsible for setup, maintenance, programming and operation of Nikon M2 CT Scanner
  • Capture 3D measurement data using 3D scanning and CMM probe measurement tools. Requires good physical condition, and flexibility to work in and around automotive components.
  • Process 3D measurement data into STL, XYZ, Excel, PCDMIS format, and add to existing measurement database.
  • Coordinate with engineering departments to define measurement requests, and provide clear, easy to understand reports that help engineering understand dimensional results.
  • Work with engineering drawings to understand dimensional requirements. Experience with Datums, GD&T and mechanical drawing standards.
  • Create new inspection programming in Polyworks with support from our metrology department.
  • Work independently and coordinate with other departments in order to capture critical data without little oversight.
  • Help design and integrate new 3D scanning systems to support dimensional tasks.

Experience with any of the following tools is preferred.

  • Zeiss Calypso (latest version)
  • Polyworks Inspector (latest version)
  • GOM ATOS Professional, Tritop, and VMR for robotic cell.
  • 3DExperience (Catia)
  • Geomagic Design X (reverse engineering)
  • Creaform Metriscan, HandyScan
  • Faro Arm, Faro Tracker

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma. Some college or college degree preferred. Strong math skills.
  • Good engineering candidates demonstrate a strong capacity to listen and understand complex scenarios, a willingness to work independently through to completion, and good interpersonal skills.
