We are currently seeking a Senior or Technical Specialist Systems Modeling for the Efficiency & Performance team. This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to model physical systems in a multidisciplinary environment.

The Role:

  • Develop and maintain system models to solve mechanical, electrical and thermal problems.
  • Build tools to support the pre-processing of simulation parameters and the post-processing of simulation results.
  • Analyze the effect of changing parameters on the behavior of a single component or the behavior of complete systems.
  • Work with multiple engineering departments to understand physics, create models, and collect parameters for system modeling.
  • Couple the effects of different systems in a BEV including motor, gearbox, inverter, battery, charger, chassis, cooling, and controls.
  • Collaborate with vehicle testing teams on correlating and validating models.
  • Create Blackbox models for co-simulation in various simulation environments.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of expertise in modeling and simulation.
  • Deep understanding of the physics and systems of electric vehicles.
  • A strong desire to create state-of-the-art engineering products as an integral part of a very capable team.
  • A flair for creative engineering and problem solving.
  • Strong experience in scripting simulation workflows and creating in-line comments for documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.


Preferred:

  • Experience in motorsports.
  • Experience in creating models for co-simulation.
  • Additional fields of experience (thermal, electromagnetics, structural statics/dynamics, material science).
  • Experience of electric vehicle drive units.
  • Experience of thermal and mechanical analysis.
  • Experience with motor control and power electronics.
  • Experience of optimization methods and software.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience with HIL and SIL testing.
  • Some knowledge of scripting for simulation process automation.


Education:

  • BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in an engineering discipline.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions ,including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
  • California (Bay Area) - $115,000-$165,000/yr
