As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Advanced Engineering team, you will architect vehicle concepts to help realize groundbreaking products for the future of electric vehicles. This role will be filled by someone who specializes in chassis hardware design and can offer experienced insight into suspension architectures and vehicle dynamics. The ideal candidate will be an engineer who is passionate about the product, strives for excellence, manages uncertainties, and works collaboratively.

Role:
  • Develop suspension architectures from a blank page to concept design and engineering validation.
  • Create and optimize mechanical designs for performance, size, weight, durability, and cost
  • Quickly CAD/sketch parts for systems across the vehicle which includes (but is not limited to): Suspension, Steering, Brakes, Tires, Body-In-White, Powertrain.
  • Build simulation models for vehicle dynamics analysis.
  • Work cross-functionally with hardware design teams and attribute owners across the company (Vehicle Safety, Vehicle Dynamics, NVH, Durability, Manufacturing) to refine the most optimal designs.
  • Navigate flexibly through assumptions, ambiguity, and preliminary requirements of the concept design phase.

Qualifications:
  • Experience and proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Automotive experience specialized in chassis, structures, suspension, or vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience of manufacturing processes (extrusions, castings, stampings, injection moulding, etc )

Advantageous:
  • Understanding of vehicle crash safety principles
  • Understanding of NVH and durability principles
  • Design experience in automotive structures
  • Knowledge of automotive industry joining technologies
  • Driven-vehicle attributes development experience
  • Hands-on practical engineering experience and technical excellence.
  • Exceptional understanding of physics and material science, and proven track record of application of those theories to component/vehicle design.
  • A sound understanding of various analysis tools e.g. ADAMS, ANSYS, OptiStruct, MatLab,

Education:
  • BS/BEng or MS/MEng, or equivalent experience in Engineering/Physics/Mathematics or similar
