We are currently seeking a Lead Hard Modeler to join our Fabrication Studio. This position requires an experienced professional who is a self-starter with a common sense approach to automotive model making. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. You must be being able to adapt to a quick-thinking environment focused on problem-solving and results.
Role:
- Provide hands on build support of design prototypes including scale and full-size design models, ergonomic and aerodynamic studies models, show cars, retail displays, etc.
- Support CNC team with material block ups and post processing
- Support paint team with part prep and surfacing
- Maintain the shops and build areas to a high degree of cleanliness and organization
- Be expected to work within tight tolerances and maintain specified surface finishes and features
Qualifications:
- Experience working with all types of materials. (Wood, plastics, metals, 3D printing, mold making, composites, paint/prep, etc.)
- Comfortable working safely with standard shop machinery (table saw, sanders, band saw, manual mill, lathe, etc.)
- Experience with all types of hand tool operation and safe practices
- Have an extreme level of craftsmanship
- A flexible schedule and willingness to work flexible hours to coincide with Design Team milestones and deadlines
Preferred:
- Knowledge of show car builds from start to finish
- Ability to use automotive spray paint equipment
- CAD skills a plus
- Automotive Background a plus
- 4 years of experience within a shop environment
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
- California (Bay Area) - $42 - $58 per hour
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
