Hardware Specialist, Characterization and Testing Infrastructure
We are seeking a Hardware Specialist, Characterization and Testing Infrastructure to push the boundaries of LFP battery testing technology at Lucid Motors. The position reports to the Engineering Manager of Battery Cell Analysis & Testing and requires experience in implementing best-known methods and proactively resolving issues at the junction of hardware and software integrations. Role
- Collect, present, and reduce operational process failures; collaborate with Battery Cell Engineering and Testing Operations team to drive operational efficiency of battery cell testing workflows
- Implement best-known methods (BKMs), safety protocols and quality standards in all analytical and testing processes
- Identify and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues with cell testing equipment to minimize downtime
- Co-author equipment maintenance plans; establish and document calibration routines to ensure accuracy and reliability of test equipment
- Work with external equipment suppliers to enable and develop new software features to improve day-to-day cell characterization and testing efficiency
- Mentor less-experienced team members and identify training opportunities for more junior colleagues
Qualifications
- 6+ years of related experience
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety and hazards, e.g., chemical, high-voltage electrical, lithium-ion battery
- Strong understanding of working safely and efficiently in a research or manufacturing environment
- Experience with Maccor, Arbin, Biologic, Novonix, Neware, or other battery cell cycling equipment
- Experience proactively communicating continuous improvement ideas with cross-functional colleagues to minimize tool downtime and promote safe working culture
- Experience in creating responsive and preventive maintenance plans for equipment
Preferred
- Data analysis experience with Python, Matlab, JMP, Tableau, Grafana, and/or SQL database systems
- Experience testing electrochemical systems and interpreting data
