We have a terrific opportunity for a motivated individual to serve as Manager, EHS – HQ R&D. This position is located in Newark, CA.


You Will:

Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS Management System elements pertaining to assigned Corporate Headquarters and R&D sites.

Manage EHS programs across multiple sites.

Provide leadership and oversight to EHS Specialists and Technicians.

Support ownership of the site’s Lab Owner Cohort consortium of R&D lab space owners including communication of EHS incidents, continuous improvement projects, and lab inspection results.

Oversee the Executive Safety Committee and conduct monthly meetings and site ‘go-and-see' activities to R&D operational areas.

Drive and lead the growth and development of Safety programs such as High Voltage Safety, Hazard Communication, LOTO, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation

Drive and lead the growth and development of site Environmental programs such as Air Quality (BAAQMD), Hazardous Materials (California CUPA), Industrial Stormwater, Industrial Wastewater, Hazardous Waste, and Sustainability initiatives.

Ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal environmental, health and safety regulations.

Develop, implement, and maintain policies, plans, and procedures as it relates to all aspects of environmental management, and health and safety performance.

Partner on risk assessments, equipment reviews, and site acceptance testing (SAT) coordination and execution to ensure lab equipment is safe for operation and provide EHS buyoff on new processes and procedures.

Conduct and oversee contractor safety reviews and any prerequisite processes for site access (pre-qualifications, pre-work assessment submittals, etc.).

Uphold the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure upcoming and changing projects receive the appropriate EHS review.

Liaise with area leaders and internal stakeholders to ensure EHS projects are effectively prioritized and supplied with adequate resources.

Practice and sustain strong communication between all organizations.

Create and standardize policies for employees/contractors to follow that minimize job-related hazards.

Partner with, and align with, Global Services EHS teams in developing and implementing site-specific policies, programs, procedures and training.

Review existing Lucid Motors standards and drive continuous improvement.

Lead and document incident investigations to determine RCCA outcomes.

Lead and review the hazard analysis program and utilization of JHA/PTP tools.

Perform frequent job-site safety inspections, procedural audits, and take immediate action where required.

Provide continuous support to Engineering, Facilities and Area Operations staff.

Background in automotive, battery manufacturing, or lab operations is an asset.


You Bring:


Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline; or the equivalent in experience.

Ability to directly and effectively oversee EHS employee efforts on many projects across several locations.

5+ years of direct experience in related industries (automotive, machine integration, semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.).

Ability and willingness to respond to site emergencies 24 hours

8+ years environmental management or safety experience.

Experience in working with varying Local, State, and Federal safety and environmental permitting authorities.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize and drive results in a rapid growth environment.

Availability to travel 10% of the time if necessary.

Ability to communicate effectively and drive team performance.
