Jr. Quality Technician, 2nd shift
The Stamping Quality Inspector will be assigned to the End of Line of the Tandem Press Line for our 2nd shift (3:30pm -12:00am) and is responsible for visually and physically inspecting metal stamped parts throughout the tandem line stamping process, using measuring tools to ensure they meet established quality standards regarding dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and overall conformity to product specifications, identifying and reporting any defects to maintain product quality and compliance with industry regulations.
You Will:
In-process inspections:
- Regularly inspect stamped parts during production runs to identify potential quality issues at the End of Line
Dimensional checks:
- Utilize measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions of stamped components against specifications filling out specific check sheets recording data or Ok/NOK conditions.
- Responsible for escalation of non-conformities as they are found
Defect identification:
- Detect and document any surface imperfections, burrs, scratches, dents, misalignments, or other defects on stamped parts
- Responsible for stopping the process and escalation when defects are found
Visual inspection:
- Assess the overall appearance of stamped parts for cosmetic flaws or deviations from quality standards. Responsible for stopping the process and escalation when defects are found
Data recording:
- Maintain detailed inspection records, including measurements, defect types, and associated production batches through surface reviews and fixture checks
Non-conformance reporting:
- Report any non-compliant parts to production personnel and initiate corrective actions
Quality standards adherence:
- Ensure compliance with established quality management systems like ISO 9001 and company quality procedures
Collaboration with production team:
- Work closely with stamping operators to address quality concerns and implement necessary adjustments to production processes
Root cause analysis:
- Assist in investigating the root cause of recurring quality issues and propose solutions to prevent future problems
You Bring:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify minute defects
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Knowledge of A-surface defects
- Understanding of metal stamping processes and potential quality issues
- Familiarity with quality management systems and documentation procedures
- Excellent communication skills to report findings and collaborate with production teams
- Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping
