Commercialization and Carbon Market Specialist
FieldCarbon Commercialization and Carbon Market Strategist
Help move an agriculture GHG emissions standard from technical readiness to commercial deployment.
About LP Consulting and FieldCarbon™
LP Consulting Ltd. is a Canadian agricultural and environmental consulting firm. FieldCarbon™ is LP’s agricultural greenhouse-gas emissions-reduction framework, designed to quantify credible reductions from practical farm and waste-to-resource activities and to support carbon-credit, Scope 3 and other climate-reporting applications. FieldCarbon™ is advancing from technical feasibility toward commercial deployment.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced strategist who can connect carbon-market requirements and buyer confidence with sound project economics, manageable risk and practical implementation.
The FieldCarbon™ Commercialization and Carbon Market Strategist will work with LP’s technical team, software developers, project partners, verifiers and potential buyers. The successful candidate will help determine what is commercially viable and what must be in place before FieldCarbon™ is deployed at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the commercialization plan. Develop market positioning, deployment pathways, pricing options, service models and practical routes to market.
- Assess market opportunities. Evaluate voluntary carbon markets, Scope 3 programs, carbon-credit buyers, industrial partners, municipalities, agri-food supply chains and non-credit climate-reporting opportunities.
- Evaluate and mitigate risk. Identify carbon-market uncertainty, verification-cost exposure, adoption barriers, industrial-residual supply risk, cost-allocation risk and factors affecting buyer confidence.
- Define viable cost allocation. Help determine how costs should be assigned across the FieldCarbon™ Standard and software, project and cohort owners, industrial participants, farmers and verification support.
- Build the partnership pathways. Identify the relationships required for farm participation, industrial-residual supply, registry access, third-party verification, software development and carbon or Scope 3 market access.
- Translate findings into action. Prepare commercialization, risk, market and financial-feasibility content for internal decisions, project reporting, partner and investor discussions, and future project deployment.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Carbon-market experience. At least five years of relevant experience in carbon markets, GHG project development, climate finance, emissions-reduction projects or environmental-market commercialization.
- Market and verification knowledge. Strong understanding of voluntary carbon markets, buyer expectations, Scope 3 reporting, registry requirements, validation and verification processes, and market risk.
- Commercial and financial capability. Experience assessing commercial feasibility, pricing, cost recovery, project economics or business models for climate or environmental projects.
- Risk-based judgment. Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks involving project scale, market adoption, stakeholder participation, verification cost and commercialization.
- Communication. Strong technical writing, analysis and communication skills, including the ability to turn complex carbon, verification and market issues into practical recommendations.
- Education. A bachelor’s degree in economics or another relevant discipline is required.
Assets
- Experience with agriculture, industrial residuals, waste-to-resource projects, soil amendments, nutrient management or nature-based climate projects.
- Experience with ISO 14064, GHG protocols, carbon registries, validation and verification bodies, or monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) systems.
- Experience working across technical, commercial and software-development teams.
Skills and Attributes
You are practical, strategic and commercially minded. You are comfortable working at the intersection of agriculture, industry, software and carbon markets, and you can challenge assumptions while building clear, workable solutions with diverse partners.
