About LoopedLooped Energy Communities CIC is a mission-led practice developing practical ways to make the transition to affordable, low-carbon energy work at neighbourhood level. We bring together expertise across communities, homes, infrastructure, energy networks, technology, finance and delivery. Our role is to integrate these moving parts into a Neighbourhood Delivery and Operating Model that enables communities to transition together. We are building a collaborative practice of experts focused on creating solutions that are warm, fair, scalable and designed around people and place.
The opportunityHelp turn a complex neighbourhood energy concept into products that people can use, operators can run and future communities can adopt. You will act as Looped's Product Owner and intelligent technical client, setting requirements and priorities rather than being expected to write all the software. The role brings together customer needs, energy networks, digital platforms, data and specialist development partners.
What you'll do· Own product requirements, roadmaps, backlogs and acceptance criteria across Looped's digital and network-coordination capability.
· Lead product development of Looped-owned CEMS (Community Energy Management System) and Fairer Share, the approach for allocating flexibility and benefits fairly.
· Coordinate the Digital Spine and interfaces between home energy management systems (HEMS), meters, network systems, suppliers, data services and customer platforms.
· Translate household, network, operational and commercial needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
· Work with Buro Happold on architecture and assurance and with Centre for Energy Equality (CEE) and other specialists on development and build.
· Oversee product testing, integration, data quality, security requirements, documentation and evidence-based acceptance.
· Ensure products are interoperable, maintainable and commercially scalable, with essential knowledge and rights retained by Looped.
Your first yearInitially you will establish the product baseline and development priorities, define CEMS/Fairer Share requirements, map critical interfaces, coordinate the architect–builder relationship and oversee early testing and operational readiness. You will have support from specialist architects, developers, network and data experts.
About you· Strong digital product ownership or product-management experience in a complex systems environment.
· Ability to translate varied user needs into structured requirements, priorities, test plans and acceptance criteria.
· Sound understanding of APIs, system interfaces, data flows and interoperability.
· Experience working effectively with developers, architects, data specialists and external technology suppliers.
· Awareness of privacy, cybersecurity, resilient service design and technical assurance requirements.
· Experience in energy management, smart homes, electricity networks, flexibility, metering or digital platforms would be valuable; expertise in every area is not expected.
Working at LoopedWe are building a relatively flat practice of expertise. You'll have clear accountability, room to take initiative and colleagues from different disciplines who will challenge, support and learn from one another. We value independent thinkers who share knowledge, raise problems early and care about how the whole system works.
