Global Director of Policy & Markets
The Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) Council is a global non-profit organization, with members made up of leading energy companies, LDES technology providers, investors, and end-users. The LDES Council advances the decarbonisation of our world through the acceleration of long-duration energy storage – both power-to-power and power-to-heat solutions - by developing and advocating for LDES-supportive policy frameworks and by providing member-driven, fact-based guidance and research on the deployment of long-duration energy storage for society's benefit.
We are seeking a Global Director of Policy & Markets to lead a high-performing, sustainable global team, and influence policy development in priority regions so that long duration energy storage gets built. The role is responsible for translating organisational strategy into a prioritised workplan, influencing policy and market design, strengthening the investment conditions for deployment, and ensuring the LDES Council’s policy work delivers clear value for members and the broader market.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the Executive Team.

- Translate the LDES Council’s organisational strategy into a focused Policy & Markets workplan, agreeing priority markets and outcomes with members and the CEO and aligning resources and budgets accordingly.
- Lead policy and market development initiatives that enable long duration energy storage procurement, strengthen revenue certainty and bankability, and accelerate deployment across electricity and industrial heat applications.
- Lead the development of evidence-based policy positions, public reports and analysis, guidance, consultations, and other priority outputs focused on achieving defined policy and market outcomes.
- Engage policymakers, regulators, system operators, customers, investors, and industry partners to influence policy, procurement, market design, and investment frameworks.
- Identify key policy, regulatory, and market developments across priority markets and translate them into opportunities, risks, and priorities for the LDES Council and its members.
- Build strategic partnerships and coalitions, represent the LDES Council with senior stakeholders and at major external forums, and track progress against meaningful policy and market outcomes.
