Senior Manager, ESG Integration - Contract (12-18 month maternity leave)
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sr. Manager to drive the execution of Loblaw's ambitious environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments across our diverse divisions and businesses. Reporting to the Vice President, Sustainability and Community Investment, this pivotal role will act as a central orchestrator within the enterprise Sustainability and Community Investment team. You will ensure seamless coordination, rigorous tracking, and successful delivery of multi-year ESG initiatives, playing a critical role in translating strategy into action, enhancing our ESG performance, and strengthening our leadership position.

What You'll Do:
- Drive the integration and execution of multi-year ESG initiatives across Loblaw's diverse business units, ensuring alignment with the company's purpose and strategic commitments (e.g., fighting climate change, advancing social equity).
- Provide guidance and advisory support to business partners to enable alignment with applicable ESG regulations, standards, and internal strategies.
- Act as a central point of contact for ESG program activities, coordinating efforts, tracking progress, and managing project timelines to achieve ambitious ESG targets. This includes establishing commitments, metrics, stage gates, and performance tracking within key working groups (e.g., Carbon, Food Waste, Plastics, Culture & Inclusion, Community Investment).
- Lead the continuous improvement of the Company’s ESG disclosures to meet global best practices and industry leadership standards.
- Research, analyze, and apply insights from key ESG frameworks and rating agencies (e.g., Sustainalytics, MSCI, FTSE Russell) to optimize Loblaw's scores and enhance external perception.
- Oversee data management systems, information gathering and disclosure processes. Collaborate closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Controls, External Financial Reporting, Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Investor Relations to ensure data integrity and transparent reporting.
- Contribute to the development of a best-in-class ESG Centre of Excellence by researching leading practices, evolving Loblaw’s ESG program through continuous improvement, and introducing new strategies and techniques.
- Support the VP in shaping and communicating Loblaw's ESG vision and strategy to internal and external stakeholders, including company leadership, business divisions, customers, colleagues, policymakers, and investors. Develop compelling presentations and reports that articulate progress, challenges, and strategic direction.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability, project management, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of ESG frameworks, reporting standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD), and rating agencies' methodologies (e.g., Sustainalytics, MSCI, FTSE Russell).
- Proven track record of successful project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Exceptional analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and formulate effective solutions.
- Superior communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships and influencing diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Creative, innovative, and strategic thinker with a commitment to continuous improvement and driving positive change.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in a large Canadian company, particularly within the retail or consumer packaged goods sector.
- Background in accounting, internal controls, assurance, and/or data analytics.
