Senior Policy Officer
Liquid Gas Europe is the European association representing the liquid gas industry. It brings together national associations, leading distributors, and equipment manufacturers across Europe.
As an advocacy-driven organisation based in Brussels, Liquid Gas Europe works at the interface between industry and EU policymakers to ensure that liquid gases — including renewable liquid gases such as bioLPG and rDME — are recognised as part of Europe’s energy transition.
Through dedicated working groups and close collaboration with its members, the association develops policy positions, provides technical expertise, and promotes the sustainable, safe, and efficient use of liquid gases across Europe.
Liquid Gas Europe is seeking a Senior Policy Officer for a full-time, Brussels-based position.
The Senior Policy Officer will play a key role in shaping and delivering the association’s EU advocacy strategy. The position involves in-depth policy analysis, proactive stakeholder engagement, and close monitoring of European legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the liquid gas sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing EU policy and legislative initiatives affecting the energy sector
- Drafting position papers, consultation responses, briefings, and reports
- Coordinating advocacy activities and supporting outreach to EU institutions and stakeholders
- Representing the association in meetings, expert groups, and public events
- Working closely with members and internal working groups to ensure aligned and evidence-based positions
The role requires both strategic thinking and operational delivery in a dynamic Brussels policy environment.
- Strong knowledge of EU energy and climate policy frameworks; familiarity with the liquid gas or broader energy sector is highly desirable
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in EU energy policy, advocacy, public affairs, or regulatory affairs
- Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to translate complex policy developments into clear strategic recommendations
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, including building and maintaining relationships with policymakers, industry representatives, and partner organisations
- Strong drafting skills, with demonstrated experience preparing position papers, policy briefings, and reports
- Good understanding of EU legislative processes and sustainability-related policy frameworks
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are an asset
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and perform in a fast-paced, international environment
- University degree in Political Science, European Studies, Law, Economics, Environmental Policy, or a related field
