Head of HV Interconnection Engineering - EMEA

Summary


The candidate will be responsible for heading team of HV Engineers and HV Managers responsible for technical aspects related to the High Voltage, substations, interconnection lines, MV/HV electrical engineering side of the PV power and other renewable generation plants, from project development to design, construction, commissioning and operation, in line with the following main responsibilities:

Support the project delivery teams during the basic and detailed design phases, construction and commissioning.

In Coordination with Company’s Management will be responsible for the design, implementation and monitoring the Strategic Engineering Plan, establishing objectives, guidelines and policies to be followed in the EMEA Region.

Identification and implementation of all Engineering Processes establishing the necessary control points to supervise the correct execution of engineering works.

Coordination of Engineering procedures with other Departments/Areas.

Coordinate Homologation procedures, Engineering subcontractors, EPC and ICP engineering subcontractors, Manufacturers and GRID Studies.

Responsible for implementing a periodical Engineering status progress report, internal, EPC/ ICPs, HV manufacturers, others.

In cooperation with local teams will coordinate all HV Standardization procedures, basic and detail design criteria, HV Equipment Specifications and Appendices customization.

Responsible for implementing an Engineering training program, analyzing the needs of the organization, interviewing managers and supervisors, seeking the benefits of each program.

In cooperation with Tender & Contracting Team and pertinent Grid Connection Managers will issue the EOI (Expression of interest) of EPC/ICPs Request for Tenders.

Stablish criteria for evaluating Risk and Hazard analysis of projects among EMEA region.

Responsible for equipping the engineering team with the appropriate tools to perform all requested tasks using commercial tools or developing proprietary tools.

Lead the company's participation in International conferences, plan workshops with manufacturers and lead technical solutions looking for synergies and collaborating with universities at country level, in coordination with the Head of Grid of the Country.


Responsible for the proper management of all documentation generated by the Engineering Team. Establishing criteria and good practices in document management.

Optimization of interconnection solutions, costs, deadlines, quality and risks.

Responsible for gathering all information, lessons learned, engineering knowledge, as well as local regulations and best practices to analyse and convey to ECE, focusing on updating the company's standards and their implementation in the different regions.

Report on Engineering activities on a regular basis to Head of Grid - EMEA.


Knowledge / Experience


Degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering / Master’s degree in Electrical or general Management is desirable

Experience working as a design engineer/manager for a DNO in EHV systems or HV/LV systems will be given high weightage.

Working knowledge of MV/HV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protections, underground/OH lines and other MV/HV equipment.

Understanding of Transmission & Distribution (T&D) network and Grid Code requirements

Extensive in field experience of MV/HV deployment and associated good practice installation of such equipment.

Familiarity with commissioning tests for renewable installations.

Experience in power systems for renewable installations, including HV substations and control.

Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for renewable applications

Willingness to travel internationally.


Personal/Work Skills/Education


Degree or master’s degree in electrical / power engineering / General Management Masters.

15+ years of experience in substations/ Interconnections design industry.

Fluent English spoken, Additional languages of EMEA region is a plus.

International working experience or in projects globally.

Strong interest in renewable energy.
