What You’ll do (the role)
Summary
This role will be one of our Electrical Experts in the Electrical Department of LSbp Engineering Centre of Excellence.
The successful candidate will join a diverse and dynamic team who support the existing global solar portfolio, as well as support growth by performing technical and commercial assessment of Electrical systems for PV Assets, including MV and HV Substations, at any project stage: development, design, construction and commissioning, as well as in operation stage upon request.
Close coordination with Procurement, Construction, Asset Services, Grid, IT, Digitalization, Quality and Innovation teams are key tasks for this Global role.
Duties and responsibilities
Engineering Support
- Continuous improvement of Functional Technical Specifications, Standards, Certifications, Digital files, and Data Sheets for Electrical Equipment’s and Electrical Systems, including scope of supply, technical and QA/QC requirements, design requirements, H&S guidelines, etc.
- Support technically the Project Development and Project Acquisition processes including the review of design proposals and third-party reports on electrical matters.
- Support the contractual negotiation with EPC regarding technical areas such as electrical engineering, equipment specifications, testing, ...
- Support on LV/MV electrical technical analysis PMs during construction period, Works Completion, PAC and FAC;
- Support the elaboration of PV plant Basic Design (SLDs), PV array sizing and optimization process.
- Development of PV plant electrical and HV evacuation infrastructure basic design (10% stage) and advanced basic design (30% stage) mainly for the US and Australian markets, including Load Flow Calculations, Short Circuit Calculation, PQ grid compliance, Inverter selection, and DC/AC cable sizing.
- Conduct PV plant electrical equipment technical review and specification including PV modules, inverters, protection equipment, cables and up to some extend switchgears, transformers and other MV/HV equipment.
- Conduct calculations and design review related with the PV plant electrical design (60& to IFC stage), including equipment sizing and configuration, PV plant earthing system and electrical protection analysis.
- Maintain and optimize PV plant minimum technical specifications for all LV/MV electrical related equipment and works involved in the constructions of a PV plant.
- Support technically the AM and O&M activity of the projects, with focus on fault analysis and trouble shooting
- Manage and coordination of external consultants to complete the internal assessments
- Undertake site visits internationally to ensure to evaluate technically the quality of the PV plant at different stages of the project, from construction to operation.
- Development of tools and procedure for ensuring consistency, quality and maximum level of optimization of the electrical design on PV plants
- Support the internal revision of SCADA architectural design, metering compliance, project requirements compliance, LSbp’s data acquisition requirements, as well as electrical designs for SCADA systems
Procurement and Business Support
- Release periodic Electrical suppliers White List acceptable to LSbp,
- Monitor supply market’s contractor pool, technology, innovation, risks and cost trends regularly,
- Identify supplier development and improvement opportunities in coordination with Procurement, Digitalization and Asset Services teams,
- Conduct the technical review of Electrical Design in tendering projects or portfolio of projects in alignment with relevant stakeholders like Procurement, Legal, Construction, Grid and Asset Services to ensure best value for LSbp,
- Work with Procurement department to negotiate supply contracts with vendors,
- Cooperate with Grid team to properly specify every project particular requirement on grid code compliance
Construction Support
- Ensure that Electrical equipment’s have been designed, installed, tested and commissioned as per company requirements to meet QSE, Utility and any competent Authority requirements, in close coordination with Construction, Asset Services, Digitalization and IT teams,
- Coordinate with IT team’s consultants and subcontractors for network security deliverables, testing, budgets, and system completion,
Asset Services Support
- Support the Asset Services teams throughout the life of the facility to maintain reliability of the PV Asset on the grid, as well as ongoing support to critical Electrical issues and configuration,
- Support in the contract negotiation for the asset management related services,
Who we’re looking for
Knowledge & Experience
- Working knowledge of engineering, construction and commissioning of MV substations and MV/LV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protections, underground/OH lines and other MV/LV equipment’s.
- Experience in power systems for conventional or renewable installations, including MV/HV reactive power compensation equipment’s.
- Experience of electrical system design and familiarity with latest electrical related calculation methodologies for LV/MV equipment such as AC/DC cables, grounding and earthing design, protections calculation, reactive power compensation & battery banks.
- Familiarity with HV/EHV substation designs for US Market mainly, technologies (AIS/GIS), HV equipment’s, SLD’s, Layout configurations and control and protection systems.
- Familiarity with storage system technologies and strategies for renewable applications.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems.
- Familiarity with IEC/AUS regulations and standards is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, NEC standards.
- Familiarity with grid codes in different US jurisdictions, Australia, UK, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, grid connection applications, agreements, offers and PPA’s.
- Experience of electrical power systems modelling. Experience in detail electrical system design using specialized calculation software such as ETAP, Digsilent Power Factory, Cymcap, and PSS/E, PSCAD, XGSLab or similar.
- On site experience during project construction, commissioning test and operation of large renewable generation installations, preferably for PV plants.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with web-based systems and software tools, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Database Management software (such as Access).
- Experience in a similar role is a key advantage.

Education & Experience
- Degree or master’s degree in electrical / power engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in the electrical power systems industry.
- Significant amount of professional experience in technical roles in the electrical marketplace or equivalent, preferably in the power generation industry.
- Strong interest in renewable energy.
- International working experience or in projects globally, both in projects under IEC and ANSI standards.
- Fluent English spoken and written. Additional languages is a plus.
- Proactive and being able to prioritize workload.
