Solar Panel Maintenance Technician - On-Call / Part-Time
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and flexible Solar Panel Maintenance Technician to join our team on an on-call, part-time basis (averaging 12–30 hours/week, typically starting around 8 AM). This role offers $35/hour plus $0.70 per mile reimbursement and involves travel to various job sites across Southern California, from San Fernando to San Diego. It’s ideal for someone with strong electrical and troubleshooting skills who enjoys variety in their work and is comfortable working independently in the field. You’ll assist with inspections, repairs, and maintenance of solar panel systems, while also supporting larger projects where an extra set of hands is needed.
What You’ll Do:
- Inspect, maintain, and repair solar panel systems at various customer sites.
- Troubleshoot and fix electrical and mechanical issues.
- Download, install, and update software for solar panels.
- Crimp ethernet connections, troubleshoot hardware, and work with Modbus wiring.
- Differentiate between DHCP and static IP configurations.
- Assist with heavy lifting and larger projects to ensure efficiency and safety.
- Take clear photos and provide detailed documentation of work performed.
What We’re Looking For:
- Electrical background — solar experience preferred.
- Knowledge of wiring diagrams, nonresidential 480V systems, and 1000VDC.
- Comfortable working at heights; lift certification a plus.
- Computer savvy with the ability to perform technical updates and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Basic hand tools required.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to travel to multiple job sites.
- Ability to pass a background check.
