Role Summary:
We’re hiring a Commissioning (Cx) Engineer (Entry Level) to support the commissioning of HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and building systems from design through occupancy. This is a hands-on role designed for a recent engineering graduate who wants to build field skills, learn commissioning tools and standards, and grow into a project-leading Cx professional under the mentorship of senior engineers.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist with developing commissioning plans, specifications, and testing protocols.
- Support design/submittal reviews with guidance from senior staff.
- Perform site observations to verify installation quality and conformance with design intent.
- Help maintain commissioning logs, issues lists, and progress reports.
- Participate in and document functional performance testing for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting systems.
- Coordinate with contractors, design teams, and owners to track and close out issues.
- Review start-up reports, TAB (Test, Adjust, Balance) reports, and training documentation.
- Contribute to final commissioning documentation, including O&M verification and closeout reports.
- Use commissioning software (e.g., Cx Alloy, Facility Grid, BlueRithm) for tracking and documentation.
- Assist TAB team with air and hydronic balancing as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (or a closely related field) from an accredited college.
- Foundational understanding of HVAC and electrical systems, and curiosity to learn codes/standards (ASHRAE, ASTM, NIBS, LEED).
- Clear written/verbal communication, strong organization, and documentation habits.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; willingness to learn Cx platforms.
- Ability to travel regionally within Texas (approximately 25–40%), including active construction sites.
Preferred:
- Interest in pursuing commissioning credentials (e.g., CxA, BCxA, CCP) with company support.
- Exposure to building automation/controls, energy efficiency, or LEED projects (coursework or internships welcome).
- Internship/co-op/project experience in HVAC/MEP design, controls, energy, or construction.
