Technical Project Manager
Job Title: Technical Project Manager (Business Intelligence/ Data Analytics)
Location: Remote with occasional on-site meetings in Sacramento, CA
Duration: Long Term Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery for tasks, including kick-off meetings, progress reporting, and final deliverables.
- Serve as primary liaison between technical implementation teams and executive leadership, department heads, and operational staff
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate technical teams working on energy efficiency forecasting, fuel substitution analysis, and demand flexibility modeling.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks related to data integration, system performance, and organizational change
- Ensure compliance with municipal procurement requirements, state regulations, and data governance standards
- Oversee quality assurance processes for data integration, dashboard functionality, and user acceptance testing
- Manage vendor relationships and contract deliverables to ensure adherence to RFP requirements
- Ensure compliance with CEC contract requirements, DVBE participation, and administrative deliverables.
- Manage activities and enforce quality standards for technical outputs.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and Analytics Architects
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, workshops, interviews, and knowledge transfer sessions with CEC staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience managing technical projects in the energy sector.
- 3+ years specific experience managing Business Intelligence, data analytics, or dashboard implementation projects
- Experience with BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar) and data warehouse implementations
- Proven experience with energy efficiency, electrification, and demand-side analytics.
- Strong understanding of energy policies and regulatory frameworks.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with energy forecasting tools (AAEE, FSSAT) and scenario modeling.
- Previous experience with predictive analytics or machine learning implementations
- Background in utility operations, water/sewer management, or municipal engineering
- Ability to manage multi-year, work-authorization-based contracts with public agencies.
