About this position

This Senior Advisor part-time position will be in support of LSM Church programs in Spain with a special focus on climate.

The mission of the position is to build consensus within the Catholic Church in Spain that fossil fuels must be phased out without delay, and investment in fossil fuels must end urgently, through outreach and recruitment of support inside the Church (institutional or personalities) and commitments to the global Catholic fossil fuel divestment campaign.

Work and coordinate with the members of the Spain Team and the European Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with high-level Spanish Church authorities (Bishops, Universities, Think tanks, NGOs, etc.) and secular organizations.
  • Develop relationships with the global environmental movement in Spain.
  • Set, plan, and implement a strategy on advocacy, especially focused on Empty Spain.
  • Organize and manage a high-level level interfaith event.
  • Coordinate with Organizing and Communications teams in Spain and the rest of LSM.

Skills and Characteristics


  • Endorses and embodies and the Laudato Si’ paradigm in behavior and words; comfortable supporting and working in a faith-based environment.
  • Understanding of the structure and relations within the Catholic Church institutions and secular institutions.
  • Diplomacy and communication skills.


  • Experience in advocacy/campaigning for faith-based organizations.
  • Understanding of climate issues and renewable policies.
  • Knowledge of civil society environmental and climate organizations.
  • Training and facilitation experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining work relationships and implementing strategies remotely.


Spanish and English

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Hours: 20 hours per week.

Location: Spain
