Job Purpose

As Senior Data Analyst of the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC), you will play a key role in building KCC’s internal data and intelligence systems related to climate change, sustainability, and GHG emission analytics. The position covers the entire knowledge value chain — from data research, cleaning, and structuring to quantitative analysis, modelling, visualization, and insight generation. While focused on climate and sustainability, the Senior Data Analyst will collaborate across themes and teams to deliver high-quality analytical outputs. The Senior Data Analyst is also expected to lead the development of new analytical methods and tools and support the development of KCC’s knowledge strategy together with the Head of Knowledge & Analytics.

What You Will Do

  • Identify and prioritize the most relevant information and data sources related to logistics, GHG emissions, energy, and sustainability
  • Collect, clean, process, and structure datasets related to these topics
  • Conduct scenario analysis and quantitative modelling on climate and logistics transitions, including GHG emissions projections under different decarbonization pathways and climate-policy scenarios
  • Develop analytical tools, forecasting models, and dashboards about the most up-to-date climate science and its relation to the logistics industry
  • Develop and maintain databases and data libraries ensuring traceability and quality control
  • Build interactive dashboards and data visualizations (Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, or similar)
  • Perform data quality assurance and documentation of methodologies
  • Handle and analyze geospatial datasets (QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar)
  • Translate analytical findings into visual and narrative insights for reports and dashboards
  • Collaborate with the Data Analyst, the Researcher, the Communications Department, the Management & Operations Team, and the Program Line leaders

You bring

  • 7–9 years of specific professional experience in climate change & sustainability, data analytics, logistics, or quantitative research
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, dashboards, data modelling) and Power BI / Tableau / Alteryx
  • Intermediate skills in Python or R for data engineering and analysis
  • Basic to intermediate GIS skills (QGIS, ArcGIS, or similar)
  • Familiarity with sustainability and GHG frameworks (IPCC, IEA, SBTi, CSRD, ESG)
  • Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills
  • Interest, or even experience, in the logistics industry
  • Applying sound business judgement
  • Fluency in English (German an asset)

You will work with

The Senior Data Analyst reports to the Head of Knowledge & Analytics and works closely with the Data Analyst, the Researcher, the Communications Department, and the Management & Operations Team to co-produce analytical outputs and knowledge products.

The Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) is a subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Kuehne family and is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world. As an operational foundation it is involved in the areas of logistics, medicine, culture and, since the beginning of 2023, climate action. The Foundation is independent, operational and international.
