What You Will Do
As Maritime Project Manager at the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) you will be responsible for the implementation of multiple international projects to make maritime transport more climate compatible. You will work with the Program Leader and multiple external stakeholders to ensure the projects contribute to making global supply chains climate compatible in line with our strategic objectives.

The KCC is a subsidiary of the Kuehne Foundation in Schindellegi, Switzerland. Established in 1976 by the Kühne family and is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world. As an operational foundation it is involved in the areas of logistics, medicine, culture and, since the beginning of 2023, climate action. The Foundation is independent, operational and international.

The non-profit Kühne Foundation was established by the Kühne family in Switzerland in 1976 and is one of the largest foundations in the German-speaking world. The foundation focuses on education and training as well as research and science in logistics and the transportation industry, it maintains a medical campus with two large research programs in allergology and cardiology, and it supports festivals, opera houses and concert halls in Europe. As Maritime Project Manager at the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) you will be responsible for the implementation of multiple international projects to make maritime transport more climate compatible. You will work with the Program Leader and multiple external stakeholders to ensure the projects contribute to making global supply chains climate compatible in line with our strategic objectives.
As Maritime Project Manager you will have responsibility for:
- Assuring the successful implementation of multiple maritime climate projects
- Ensuring the project outputs contribute to achieving the KCC’s strategic objectives
- Managing project timelines and budgets
- Contributing to the creation of proprietary IP and analytics for the area in collaboration with the Knowledge Hub Team
- Developing high quality outputs (graphics, reports, storylines, posts) to leverage the impact of activities
- Working with KCC Communications Team to drive the strategic impact of the activities
- Representing KCC in project meetings
- Presenting project activities externally (workshops, conferences, webinars etc.)
- Working collaboratively with project partners and a range of external stakeholders to build and strengthen relationships
- Establishing a strategic communication plan, ensuring regular publication of high-quality content pieces, edited by yourself
- Contribute to the development of new projects and interventions
- Contribute to internal projects and business development initiatives

You‘re good at
- Project Management
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Preparing quality outputs (reports, analytical tools, playbooks, posts)
- Public speaking (meetings, workshops, conferences)
- Understanding systems and how to change them
- Working independently with small teams
- Displaying cultural sensitivity in your conduct
- Multitasking, keeping multiple balls in the air for parallel assignments
- Dealing with ambiguity in a startup environment
- 5-9 years of experience of the maritime transport sector
- Experience of successful project management
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, logistics, supply chain management)
- Understanding of climate change (science, mitigation, adaptation)
- Commitment to driving the climate transformation in the maritime sector
- Ability to work in English and at least one other language, German a plus
- Can-do mentality and independent work style
- Ability to connect with remote team and leadership
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and to work in start-up mode
- Demonstrated commitment or experience of working in or with low- and middle-income countries is an advantage
- Eligibility to work in Germany
- Availability to work a minimum of 32 hours per week
- Availability to travel internationally
- Willingness to work primarily on-site, with the option of two days per week remote
- The Program Leader and project teams in the field
- The KCC Communication Team
- KCC international partners (universities, NGOs, government agencies, business partners)
