Environmental Permitting Manager
KERAMIDA Inc., a nationally recognized environmental, engineering, and compliance consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Manager to lead and support permitting efforts across our growing utility, energy, and infrastructure portfolio. This role is ideal for a permitting professional who can manage complex regulatory processes, lead multidisciplinary teams, and ensure successful project execution from early planning through regulatory approval and construction compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental permitting efforts for utility, pipeline, electric transmission and distribution, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects across PA, OH, WV, VA, IN, and additional regional markets.
- Manage the preparation, review, and submission of permit applications, including but not limited to NPDES, ESCGP, Chapter 102, Chapter 105, Section 401/404 Nationwide and Individual Permits, threatened and endangered species coordination, cultural resource coordination, and municipal approvals.
- Provide permitting strategy and regulatory guidance during project planning, routing, design, and pre-construction phases to minimize risk and maintain project schedules.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies including USACE, USFWS, PADEP, ODNR, WVDEP, SHPO/PHMC, FERC, and local municipalities.
- Lead and coordinate internal teams including environmental scientists, engineers, surveyors, and GIS specialists to support permit applications and environmental compliance deliverables.
- Oversee permitting schedules, trackers, and regulatory commitments to ensure timely and compliant project execution.
- Review permit applications, environmental reports, alignment sheets, construction drawings, and supporting documentation for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Support and oversee FERC-related permitting activities for interstate natural gas and energy infrastructure projects, including resource reports, environmental alignment sheets, and agency coordination.
- Provide technical oversight for environmental desktop reviews, field investigations, agency consultations, and pre-construction planning.
- Mentor and support junior permitting staff and contribute to the growth and development of KERAMIDA’s permitting team.
- Assist with client coordination, proposal development, scope definition, and project budgeting related to permitting services.
Qualifications
- 7–15+ years of experience in environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, or related field, with utility, pipeline, or infrastructure permitting experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing permitting efforts and coordinating directly with regulatory agencies.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting regulations, including USACE Section 404/401 permitting, state environmental permitting programs, and familiarity with FERC environmental compliance processes.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and technical teams simultaneously.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering plans, survey data, environmental reports, and construction drawings.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience supporting natural gas, electric utility, renewable energy, or civil infrastructure projects preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Environmental Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus.
