Role Overview

The Remote Sensing Specialist (RSS) will lead satellite-based mapping of land cover, land use change, and digital terrain modeling within KenEco’s GIS team. The role places strong emphasis on land cover classification using multispectral satellite imagery (e.g., Sentinel-2 and similar sensors).

The RSS will report directly to the Head of Geospatial and will primarily support nature-based climate action projects across the APAC region. In addition, the role includes coordinating geospatial activities related to agricultural plantation projects (e.g., banana, cacao, and other crops).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply and further develop expertise in land use remote sensing using multispectral satellite imagery and drone-based optical imagery.
  • Produce Land Use and Land Use Change (LULUC) maps, including robust map accuracy assessments in accordance with best practices (e.g., the GOFC-GOLD REDD+ Sourcebook).
  • Contribute to research and development initiatives focused on multi-sensor integration (e.g., LiDAR, radar, drone-based cameras) and advanced geospatial data modeling.
  • Support the development and enhancement of geospatial digital solutions https://kennemer.tech/#/
  • Collaborate with external service providers on geospatial and digital solution projects.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) for all geospatial analysis outputs developed internally and by external partners.
  • Develop baseline assessments and monitoring frameworks for nature-based climate projects related to carbon certification.
