Kaluza is the Energy Intelligence Platform, turning energy complexity into seamless coordination. We help energy companies overcome today’s challenges while accelerating the shift to a clean, electrified future.
Our platform orchestrates millions of real-time decisions across homes, devices, markets and grids. By combining predictive algorithms with human-centred design, Kaluza makes clean energy dependable, affordable and adaptive to everyday life.
With teams across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, and a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation in Japan, we power leading companies including OVO, AGL and ENGIE, as well as innovators like Volvo and Volkswagen.
At Kaluza we embrace a flexible, hybrid work model that balances autonomy with the power of in-person connection. Many of our teams find value in coming together regularly to collaborate, strengthen relationships, and accelerate progress. We’re focused on shaping thoughtful, team-driven approaches that support both business impact and individual well-being.
Where in Kaluza will I be working?
You'll be joining as an engineer in our Identity & Access Management (IAM) team, which provides authentication & authorisation services that safely ensures the appropriate accesses are permitted on the Kaluza retail platform, whether that’s human (e.g. retail client customers or employees) or machine (e.g. external or other internal services). With millions of customers across multiple geographic regions, we naturally invest significant effort into availability, performance, security and observability, and the team prides itself on its ability to maintain a balance between rapid development of new services, iterative quality & feature enhancements alongside being highly responsive in incidents.
As an engineer in the IAM team you’ll also be part of the wider Cyber Security squad, working alongside security engineers and security operations specialists as well as a range of software engineers from across our Kaluza engineering community.
What will I be doing?
We very much believe in sharing both responsibilities and the successes in our team, so you’ll be exposed to many aspects of our IAM portfolio of work from the get go. The team builds, tests, deploys and supports a range of authentication & authorisation products for use across the Kaluza platform, with a diverse set of underlying technologies. We don’t expect you to arrive with experience of all of them, but you can expect to learn about and get hands-on with many, in particular TypeScript development, GitHub Actions, Terraform, PostgreSQL, AWS, Keycloak and DataDog. As a team, we currently follow a Kanban approach to Agile software development, making use of tools like Miro, Confluence and Jira for workshops, documentation and task management.
You’ll be involved in the full software development lifecycle from rapid prototyping, technical options evaluation and publishing solution design specs, through to developing, configuring and deploying services, through to monitoring and improving our operational health. You will join our support rota to triage platform issues and respond to incidents; as a critical part of our platform we often get called upon to advise or champion core IAM principles, giving us a uniquely broad perspective across the entire architecture.
Alongside your day-to-day IAM work you’ll also have the opportunity to mentor other engineers, get involved in cross-engineering knowledge sharing as well as the potential to lead collaborative development across into other teams.
Is this the job for me?
Ideally you’ll already have experience working as an IAM engineer, but we are very happy to consider candidates from software engineering or security engineering who are looking to jump into the Identity & Access Management domain. Whatever your background, we’re looking for genuine enthusiasm to help us develop this space and for you to share that passion with others at Kaluza.
If you feel you can demonstrate knowledge & experience of some of the following then we’d love to hear from you!
Here at Kaluza we have five core values that guide us as a business:
We’re on a mission, We build together, We’re inclusive, We get it done, We communicate with purpose.

Kaluza’s vision is to power a world where net-zero is within everyone’s reach. Would you be interested in joining us to help achieve this?
From us you’ll get
