Your key responsibilities can be broadly split across two key areas:
Foundational Strategy & Operational Excellence
You will help build the engine that allows Kaluza to scale with precision and speed:
- Data-driven deal modelling: Build financial and pricing models that quantify margin, ARR, and risk - turning raw numbers into actionable commercial insight.
- Contracting strategy: Sharpen commercial and operational templates to slash friction and fast-track legal approvals.
- Deal infrastructure: Own Kaluza’s Contracting Playbook, designing tools, processes, and role frameworks that make every deal run like clockwork.
- Commercial content: Craft pricing sheets, quote packs, and sales enablement materials that turn complexity into clarity.
- RfP & Committee support: Deliver sharp, analytically-backed inputs for RfPs and steer internal committee reporting with confidence.
You will take an active, visible role in closing business:
- Complex transactions: Play a key role alongside Deal Leads on nuanced energy SaaS transactions before transitioning to full ownership.
- Negotiation ownership: Lead commercial negotiations for specific deal workstreams or full enterprise deals.
- Cross-functional coordination: Liaise with internal subject matter experts to negotiate non-standard commercial and operational terms.
- Continuous improvement: Use front-line negotiation insights to refine templates and foundational processes.
- Strategic documentation: Synthesise business-wide input to document formal commercial positions for negotiators.
We’re looking for smart, adaptable, resilient and highly driven problem solvers; people who think clearly under pressure, challenge assumptions, and stay composed when the stakes are high.
You take ownership by default. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities. When something is unclear or broken, you structure it and move it forward.
- Critical thinker: You manage complexity with ease, translating intricate energy and SaaS topics into clear, persuasive narratives for senior stakeholders.
- Operationally minded: You spot inefficiencies instinctively and build the processes needed to fix them.
- Client-ready presence: You have the credibility and composure to hold your own with senior client representatives.
- Data-fluent decision-making: You don’t just analyse numbers, you interrogate them, uncover patterns, and translate complex data into strategic insight. You focus on the metrics that drive value, challenge assumptions, and use evidence to shape commercial strategy and decisive action across the business.
- Strategic and pragmatic: You can see the long-term direction while executing the short-term steps required to get there.
- Experience working in a commercial role focused on sales of SaaS solutions in the energy industry.
- Experience in software deal work from pricing to contracting.
- An understanding of the energy industry and the role of retailers and utilities within it.
- A high degree of initiative and a commercial, entrepreneurial mindset.
- A team player, open communicator and collaborator - keeps colleagues up-to-date, shares and learns without prompting.
- A start-up mentality and ability to self-organise.
- A solid understanding of commercial SaaS terms and metrics and basic legal/contractual concepts.
- Experience in a role that demonstrates a customer centric focus.
- The ability to know when and how to measure success. You don’t just use data, you know when to use what sort of data and the questions you need to help you answer.
- The ability to see long and short term, thinking tactically and strategically.
