As we continue to expand our footprint, we're seeking a dedicated and experienced Solar O&M Technician to join our team and ensure the continued performance and reliability of our solar assets.
Position Summary:
The Solar O&M Technician is responsible for performing field-based preventative and corrective maintenance on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to ensure optimal performance. This includes inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical components, as well as monitoring system performance using remote monitoring tools and field instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventative maintenance on commercial and utility-scale solar PV systems.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical system issues including inverters, combiners, and wiring.
Conduct site inspections, safety checks, and performance analysis.
Utilize SCADA and monitoring platforms to analyze performance and identify underperforming assets.
Perform testing and diagnostics using tools such as multimeters, insulation resistance testers, and IV curve tracers.
Document all work performed through service reports and maintenance logs.
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures, including Lockout/Tagout and PPE requirements.
Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and customers when necessary.
Respond to emergency service calls and assist in after-hours troubleshooting if required.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
2+ years of hands-on experience in solar O&M, electrical, or field service work.
Working knowledge of electrical systems (AC/DC), solar PV systems, and inverters.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, site plans, and wiring diagrams.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in various weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Basic computer skills (email, Excel, monitoring platforms).
Preferred:
Associate’s degree or technical certification in electrical, renewable energy, or related field.
NABCEP certification (PV Installation Professional or PV Associate).
OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
Experience with SCADA systems and/or solar monitoring platforms (e.g., AlsoEnergy, Power Factors).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and use of hands/tools.
Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops or elevated platforms.
Comfortable working in remote field locations.
