We are seeking a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Business Specialist to join our Operations & Maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial and operational management of energy storage assets with a primary focus on warranty administration, vendor coordination, and documentation processing and approval. This role partners closely with Operations & Maintenance (O&M), Engineering, and external vendors to ensure equipment issues are accurately documented, escalated, and resolved in accordance with OEM warranty requirements and internal processes. The position is well suited for candidates seeking to grow a career in renewable energy business operations and asset management.
This role will be based out of our Austin, TX office and is subject to our Company's return-to-office policy which currently requires a minimum of three days a week in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track warranty claims for BESS and balance-of-plant (BOP) equipment
- Monitor claim status, OEM responses, parts shipments, and corrective actions through resolution
- Maintain accurate and complete warranty records in Microsoft D365 and internal tracking tools
- Support vendor onboarding for O&M activities, including collection, verification, and submission of required documentation
- Coordinate cross-functional document workflows for review, approval, and execution
- Serve as a point of coordination between vendors, O&M teams, and internal stakeholders
- Collect, organize, and maintain supporting documentation for warranty claims, including: service and maintenance reports, alarm and fault logs, photographs and inspection notes
- Ensure all documentation meets OEM warranty requirements and internal standards
- Review basic system performance data to help identify potential warranty-related events
- Escalate abnormal trends or recurring issues to senior management for further review
- Communicate with field technicians, O&M personnel, engineers, and vendors to gather required information
- Participate in internal meetings related to system performance, reliability, and asset health
- Update warranty trackers, dashboards, and logs
- Assist in generating reports related to claim volume, resolution timelines, and recovery value
- Provide status updates on documentation submissions, reviews, and approvals
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and document requests related to warranty activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Systems
- 02 years of experience in renewable energy, power generation, maintenance, or technical administration
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and document management tools
- Ability to follow structured processes, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or entry-level experience in energy storage, solar, wind, utilities, or industrial operations
- Familiarity with lithium-ion battery systems or electrical equipment
- Exposure to maintenance records, technical reports, or compliance documentation
- Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Primarily office-based with occasional field or site exposure
- Limited travel may be required for training or site support
