We are seeking a highly analytical and data-driven Profitability Analyst to join our New Product Introduction team to analyze company, project, customer, and product profitability while supporting financial modelling, forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial and accounting knowledge with technical analytical capabilities. They are comfortable working with large datasets, building detailed financial models, using SQL (Structured Query Language) to extract and analyze information, and applying programming or automation tools to make financial analysis more efficient and scalable.
This position is well suited for someone who enjoys going beyond reporting numbers to understand why financial results are changing, what is driving profitability, and where opportunities exist to improve business performance.

Key Responsibilities
Profitability & Financial Analysis
- Develop and maintain profitability models across projects, products, customers, business segments, and other key areas of the organization.
- Analyze revenue, costs, gross margins, contribution margins, and other key financial performance indicators.
- Perform detailed profit and loss (P&L) analysis and identify the primary drivers affecting business performance.
- Evaluate profitability across projects and customer accounts to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Analyze actual financial performance against budgets, forecasts, historical results, and business expectations.
- Perform variance, margin, cost, pricing, volume, and trend analysis.
- Identify areas of margin erosion, cost increases, or underperformance and investigate underlying causes.
- Support management in evaluating opportunities to improve profitability, control costs, and optimize financial performance.
- Conduct financial analysis to support specific business needs and management decision-making.
- Build, maintain, and improve sophisticated financial models used for forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, and business planning.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to evaluate the financial impact of changes in pricing, volume, costs, project assumptions, and other business drivers.
- Assist with annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Support financial analysis for new projects, contracts, investments, products, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate operational assumptions into measurable financial outcomes.
- Develop business cases and financial models to assess potential returns, risks, and profitability of new opportunities.
- Extract, clean, organize, reconcile, and analyze financial and operational data from multiple systems and databases.
- Write and maintain SQL queries to retrieve and analyze large datasets.
- Use programming and analytical tools such as Python, VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), or similar technologies to support financial analysis and automate recurring processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive financial reporting and analytical processes.
- Build scalable tools and models that improve the speed, consistency, and accuracy of financial analysis.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, trends, and meaningful business insights.
- Support the development of dashboards, financial reports, and analytical tools using platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence software.
- Work with internal stakeholders to improve the quality, accessibility, and reliability of financial and operational data.
- Work closely with the Accounting team to ensure profitability and management reporting aligns with financial statements, accounting records, and the general ledger.
- Assist with the analysis and interpretation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
- Support reconciliation between operational systems and accounting records where required.
- Develop a strong understanding of Jule's revenue streams, project costs, cost structures, and financial reporting processes.
- Partner with Accounting to understand how transactions, cost allocations, accruals, and other accounting activities affect reported profitability.
- Support month-end and year-end analysis where required.
- Ensure financial models and profitability reporting are based on accurate and reliable financial information.
- Develop recurring profitability reports, dashboards, KPIs, and management reporting tools.
- Translate complex financial and data analysis into clear and actionable insights for management and non-financial stakeholders.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Collaborate with departments including Accounting, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Project Management, Operations, and Product Design to understand business and cost drivers.
- Partner with business teams to evaluate project performance and identify financial improvement opportunities.
- Clearly communicate financial findings, risks, trends, and opportunities to stakeholders.
- Support management with ad hoc reporting and analysis as business needs evolve.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 2–4+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, profitability analysis, pricing, corporate finance, accounting, business analytics, or a similar analytical role.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, P&L analysis, revenue, expenses, margins, and profitability drivers.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining financial models.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, scenario modelling, and financial analysis.
- Working knowledge of SQL with the ability to query and analyze financial or operational data.
- Experience programming and utilizing analytical tools such as Python, VBA, or similar technologies.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work with large datasets while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrate ability to interpret financial information and communicate findings clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Production and operational departments.
- Master's degree or MBA in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Analytics, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization/business intelligence tools.
- Advanced experience using Python for financial analysis, data manipulation, or process automation.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Experience with project profitability, product profitability, customer profitability, or project-based financial analysis for new product development.
- Experience in energy, technology, manufacturing, infrastructure, construction, EV charging, or renewable energy environments.
- Understanding of cost accounting, project accounting, cost allocation methodologies, or activity-based costing.
- Experience automating financial reports, dashboards, or recurring analytical processes.
