Global Trade Compliance Specialist
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Joby Aviation's international trade activities comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. You will work closely with various departments, including engineering, operations, finance, marketing, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and legal, to develop and implement robust trade compliance tools and programs. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complexities of global trade, mitigating risks, and supporting the company's growth and international expansion.

Responsibilities:- Embed trade compliance in the company by leveraging your project management skills to implement projects across multiple teams including engineering, operations, finance, marketing, procurement, logistics, manufacturing and legal.
- Build tools to determine the manage global import harmonized schedule classification (HS) and export classification (ECCN and USML) program using repeatable logic, enabling the business to make quick decisions, and simplify the user experience.
- Develop, implement and maintain the global trade compliance policy and manuals to ensure it encompasses the business structure as we expand US operations and go-to-market opportunities in countries abroad.
- Enhance customs valuation methodology and calculations so it can be applied in multiple countries around the world.
- Provide guidance and advice to the import-export operations team for the complex cross-border clearance situations.
- Deliver targeted training and communications for different teams within the company.
- Test and review restricted party screening tools to ensure it is encompassing all necessary parties and build automation to simplify the review process.
- Configure and streamline auditing programs of import-export declarations, access controls, and work with IT & security teams to enhance the controls.
- 8+ years of global trade compliance experience
- 5+ Experience with determining the US, interpreting international HS classifications, ECCN & USML determinations and customs valuation.
- Experience building trade compliance tools that integrate into the daily development and operations of the company.
- Highly organized, detail obsessed, and proactive ability to take ownership, adept to balancing tactical urgency with long-term program development, and delivering results.
- This position must meet US export control compliance requirements; therefore, a candidate must qualify as a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15. “US Person” includes US Citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees.
