Overview:
Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced and passionate electronics technician. This person will lead other technicians, run a world-class electronics R&D lab and contribute to Joby's success with their own work on electronics and wire harness assembly, debugging and repair.
Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, retain and manage a small talented team of electronics technicians Keep a world-class lab space where engineers and technicians can do their bestwork and always have the tools and space they need
  • Organize labor so that both long term strategic projects and short term critical tasks get the attention they need
  • Demonstrate and train others on best practices in wire harness assembly, debug and repair
  • Demonstrate and train others on best practices in circuit board assembly, debug and rework
Required:
  • 7+ years of experience as an electronics technician responsible for circuit debug, hands-on circuit board work and hands-on wire harness work
  • 2+ years of experience as a team lead, manager, or mentor of electronic technicians
  • AS degree in Electronics or Vocational Certificate. Military training and experience with avionics, maritime electronics or radio electronics welcomed.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects efficiently and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills – able to communicate complicated technical data/concepts efficiently
  • Proficiency with using electronic and wire harness test equipment
  • May need to travel 10% for field equipment support
  • Experience working from schematics and assembly drawings
Desired:
  • Experience with electric powertrains (power electronics, battery systems, motors/actuators)
  • Experience with high voltage electronics
  • Lock-out-tag-out procedure experience
  • Shop or lab management experience
Additional Information:
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $90,168 - $120,225/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
