Job Title: ESG Head
Reports To : CEO
Location : Ibadan
Employment Type : Full-time

Job Purpose
To lead the organization’s ESG strategy and execution across regions, ensuring alignment with global standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives while driving sustainable and responsible growth.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESG Strategy & Leadership
Develop and implement the company’s ESG vision, strategy, and roadmap in alignment with corporate goals.

Align ESG initiatives with overall business strategy and stakeholder expectations to create long-term value.

Sustainability Programs
Drive key initiatives across climate action, carbon reduction, water stewardship, and responsible sourcing.

Lead decarbonization strategy, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions measurement and reduction.

Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with global ESG frameworks, including GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, and emerging standards.

Monitor evolving ESG regulations in the UAE and international markets, ensuring proactive adaptation.

Reporting & Disclosures
Oversee ESG reporting, sustainability reports, and public disclosures, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and audit readiness.

Manage ESG data collection systems and processes to support timely and reliable reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with investors, regulators, customers, and internal leadership on ESG matters, communicating progress and strategic direction.

Represent the organization in ESG forums, industry working groups, and external platforms to enhance corporate reputation.

Risk Management
Identify ESG-related risks and integrate them into enterprise risk management frameworks.

Develop and implement mitigation strategies for environmental, social, and governance risks.

Supply Chain Sustainability
Drive responsible sourcing and traceability initiatives across the value chain.

Collaborate with procurement teams to embed ESG standards into supplier selection, monitoring, and development.

Team Leadership
Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing ESG team across geographies.

Foster cross-functional collaboration with HR, operations, finance, procurement, and other business units to embed sustainability across the organization.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.

MBA or Master’s degree in Sustainability is strongly preferred.

Experience
12–18 years of progressive experience, with at least 5+ years in ESG or sustainability leadership roles.

Proven track record of developing and executing ESG strategies in multinational or regional organizations.

Skills & Competencies
ESG Expertise: Deep understanding of ESG frameworks, global standards, and sustainability best practices.

Reporting & Disclosure: Hands-on experience in sustainability reporting, data management, and assurance processes.

Strategic & Operational: Ability to think strategically while driving execution across diverse geographies and functions.

Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to engage and influence investors, regulators, internal leadership, and external partners.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to lead teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
